Couldn't resist. No speech from me, or this would become a nostalgia party. I'll do what Nick did, and split it into 3 posts. Before reading: I love the classics. Most of them, such as Megaman, Donkey Kong Country, Link's Awakening and others have all been played by me. I'll try to leave those out of this particular list. Ultimate games shouldn't be compared to one another. You cannot measure those games. That's why this list contains "regular" titles. Nevertheless, these are wonderfull games. I reccommend them all. --- 10 : F-Zero GX/AX "Choose a machine from memorygate!" YES! --- I hate racing games. But these F-Zero games aren't just racing games. They are perfect. The time and money (arcade) that went into these games is unimaginable. Mostly because of the difficulty. No way you could get far ahead of the rest in Master difficulty. And when you kept them close by, none would hestitate to kill you. WipeOut move over, weapons are for n00bs. Double Branches in the Casino, the final level of Green Plant, or any Port Town track. Perfection in every track. Combine that with cameos of James (Fox) McCloud, R.O.B. and Mr Ead, and Sega made me want to race. Still playing the time trial of this. --- 9 : Resident Evil 4 "Hello stranger, got something that might interest ya." Omg, a Mine Thrower! -- Horror without zombies. I didn't know what to think of it at first. Was Capcom crazy? No, not by a long shot. Those Ganados, those disgusting, infested Ganados. The essence of crazy came at me. And it carried pitchforks. Never would I have imagined to feel close to a Resident Evil character. The isometric view prevented it. But when Leon's neck got chopped off, I almost felt as if it was me. Not going to spoil the story here. Only adding this: the Mercanaries mode ruled. And Hunk even made a comeback!
Doing the next part later on. Got to think about this really good. Really don't want to include the classics.
Resident Evil 4? Every one knows the best thrill you can get from a game is from the Gamecube Remake of Resident Evil 1. Try that, it defines the survival horror genre. Although i really have to admit, it RE 4 is a solid action game, though it heavily strayed from it's roots. Clearly, an infected Las Plagas with it's head removed is nowhere near the anxiety and fear it evoked compared to a crimson head. I wish they incorporated more elements of horror instead of just the action/adventure genre. Also, Ridge racer is a personal favorite, it's a pity, it's a fun game and it has a great OST. Maybe it needs some diversity, but it's nontheless a solid racing game.
I played Resident Evil 4 for like 20 minutes, I just couldn't get into it. A great game no doubt, but just not one of my favorites.
Yeah duh, you don't get to the exciting part in the first 20 minutes. That's like walking out on a date with a stunning girl and say: "it's been 20 minutes, and we still haven't had a shag. I'm out of here!" Lol. Posting the rest tomorrow. I need some sleep now.
You mean you don't say that? Anyways. F-Zero games are awesome. Plain and simple. I mean, name one other racing game that actually has a backstory to it.
Hehe, that's true. I just spend half an hour typing the next part, but yet another bug occured in my newest Opera Mini. It won't save. -_-' Uugh, I'll probably try again tomorrow.
I played 20 minutes in the middle, not at the beginning. Was at a friend's house. I could tell it just wasn't my kind of game.
Well, not much I can say to convince you then. However, the most important asset of a horror game is the scary vibe. You need to play it from the beginning to the end, in a dark room and all by yourself. With way to loud surround sound, obviously. Hmm, that's probably why I didn't like part 5. Playing it co-op with a friend right away might have been a bad idea.
I don't play games to become scared lol. I play games to be entertained. I do like awesome zombie games like L4D however
