This is the laptop I was planning to get

    http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product...spx?path=5202e3e10e4361f056ea865021668ffben02

    and it has a
    nVidia GeForce 310M

I'm not good with graphic cards/chipset/computers so even when i looked at the minimum requirements for SC2, i still can't tell what is sufficient.
if anyone could do a check for the graphics chipset thing (my knowledge of terminology is terrible as well, did you notice?) that would be great!

    thanks

don't listen to the yahoo guy. the 310 is the absolute barebones mobile processor. it'll run windows vista/7's special effects, play back videos... but no gaming.

the MINIMUM requirements for sc2 is roughly double the power of that GPU.

for nvidia, i'd look for something that ends in -50 or higher. GTS 250/260/280/350M etc.
    for AMD/ATI, -600 and up should do it. 4600, 4830, 5650, 5770, etc.

If you plan in to buy a gaming machine, i wouldn't consider a notebook. If you really wanna have a notebook you can play games with, you should at least invest 1.2k.... but you may get something decent with a little help on some forums for 800 - and still can upgrade it for 200-400 in two years when you need...
