Nomad is now called the Vulkan

just as the title said. besides that Karune tells us that the the Vulkan has a art update, and so did the Archon.

Speaking of the Nomad, it has actually gotten it's new art update, and a name update as well. It is now known as the Vulkan, and will be resigning down chaos at your expansions with its Auto Turrets.

On that same note, the Archon has also been updated visually with an amazing portrait animation that will surely command respect when ordering this guy around. Furthermore, say good bye to the 'walking' Archons as the 'legs' to the unit model have been removed. This unit now hovers around the battlefield decimating enemy forces like a true ominous being.

Keep a look out for these two art updates in future screenshot releases

Hello? In case you haven't noticed, screen releases have completely stopped :wacko:
I'm seriously pissed at them, how much effort does it take to press the printscreen button like five times a week? It's not like the 2 minutes to do that and upload them would hinder progress...

 

The problem is that they then have to run those screenshots by the PR department to make sure no information they don't want leaked gets out. We probably don't help that by scouring the screenshots for things we haven't seen (like Nomad and Swarm Guardian).

 

sorry Jon, i didnt made an article because it was something so small it just didnt feel right, the two art update is old news to me, the name change is the only thing new to me.

About the name change, I don't like it, somehow doesn't really fit into the new style of the names of the new terran units with all that mythological stuff.

 

What mythological creature is called Vulkan? Never heard of it, in any of the myth stories i've heard or read. Anyway glad to hear that the archon is back to its former awesome floaty self.

 

I haven't heard of anything named "Vulkan" neither (except that Vulkan is german for volcano) and because of that I said that it doesn't fit to the terrans with the Banshee, Thor, Viking, etc.

I have a theory why its Vulkan and not vulcan. There was an SMS Vulkan that was built during very early 1900s. Its a U-boat salvage tug and its famous for the salvaging two U-boats and rescuing 30 ppl from a sinking ship.

 

Also known as Hephaestus to the Greeks.

 

I am glad they are actually working on this game

 

I hope the Vulkan keeps the floodlights that were on the front of the Nomad. I thought that was a cool touch from the begining.
Is the only ability that it has is build auto-turret? I thought it had the salvage ability at some point?

If that information presented by Heavyarms about the SMS Vulkan is true, then I fully accept the new name.

 

the Vulkan is able to detect, make the auto-turrents, make spider mines,is able to repair other vehicles by something like 200 points or so, and have been rumored to have an ability call targeting drone that is supposed to increase the damage that a unit takes.

you know Vulcan is one of the race in Startrek...and the fact i dont like Vulkan,it dosent fit the name,its for a gunner name,NOT A GUNNER DEPLYOER...i like vulkan to be the names of the turrets...

 

finally they bring back the leg-less floating archon concept maybe in new design!

I think the name fits very well, because this unit is creating mines & auto-turrets (weapons) just like the god it's named after (Vulcan/Hephaestus, who created the weapons and armours for the other gods)

 

yeah the name is starting to attach to me, hopefully this name will stick.

Then give me an archon raping 4 SCVs and a command centre, I don't care, just something. It would take next to no effort to find a screen that doesn't contain unrevealed info. No, this has nothing to do with the PR department, all this has got to do with is laziness.
