No LAN!?

Personally, I think this move is ridiculous.
Why would blizzard omit LAN support?
They've given reasons like:

1.Its supposed to stop piracy

(I cant remember where exactly I heard this, but if it is true
that they said this then can someone plz explain how lack
of LAN stops piracy?)

2. Only a small percentage of ppl will really care

(I don't think LAN functionality is as important as it was a decade ago.
Still, why would you go without it? They say the internet goes out as
much as the power does, I suppose, but what about when I go over
my download limit which I often do? Or I maybe just don't want to go
though the hassle of setting up internet when I go over a friends house.)

Its seems like a small thing, just add LAN. imho, i think blizzard just wants to control the community, and make money by forcing everyone to go online and look at ads.

Well, first of all don't get too hasty. The situation might change with the beta. And I'm sure somebody is going to make a program to force LAN or something. Or Blizzard will add some kind of LAN support later.

Imagine you and your friends want to "LAN. Now, you would need a game per person to go on battlenet.

If you download SC2 and crack it, you still can't play online because of the cd key.

Pretty smart move by blizzard, though I was still going to buy it despite the fact that I *cough* dl quite a lot.

And IF Starcraft 2 did have LAN, I wouldn't download it just for the sake of online game.

There are no ads on bnet as far as I know, and neither will there be ads in 2.0 as far as I know.

Well it depends. If you are a pirate, then you care. If your friends buy it to LAN (if you do that) you care.

If Bnet2.0 is teh revolutions then internet cafés won't have any problem.

Now the problem is people that have bad internet. With bad I mean like 300ms and a modem connection or something like that.

You'd want LAN then, but Blizz doesn't target your group
It's expected all of us have a 10mbit connection I suppose.

 

Ugh...........I'm getting sick to my stomache about the size of new people getting on the forum just to make a thread talking about lan, can a mod close this please.

Also, in my opinion, I dont get you people. Blizzard did it for a reason, why cant you all just have patience and see exactly why they are doing it.

Blizzard made a stupid move and made it worse by attempting to shut everyone up with 'No LAN, will talk about b.net 2.0 later kthxbye!'.

 

Yes it was not a smart move to announce it just yet but it doesnt justify people making identical threads over and over and over again.

 

Thats like the 6th, it just annoys me that people get *back* on there profile when they never do *just* so they can be the *one* to post that. They think that we dont know about it....
