Just in time for spring break, perfectly aimed to pull you in for that week of unabated StarCraft, Blizzard has released the much-anticipated Patch 1.3.0 as of 3 pm PST. The patch includes a number of balance changes including the removal of the Khydarin Amulet upgrade for the High Templar, a much debated change. Other balance changes include the limiting of the Ghost's EMP to removal of 100 energy, increased Battlecruiser speed, and an increase in the research time for Terran Stimpack from 140 to 170 seconds. The patch also unveils the new GrandMaster League which will remain unpopulated for now (also requires activity to keep your bonus pool below 270??) as Season 1 rankings have been frozen in anticipation of the end of this "season." Matchmaking rating will continue to be updated although Blizzard has not commented on how new rankings will be determined once the freeze is lifted. Read the full patch notes
OK so to have a meaningful post in here... I love the patch. I'm not too bothered about the hidden losses, but I see why peple want it back. I LOVE the unclickable groups. I love the icons and the revamped menus and features. The 4 second fungal will need some getting used to and I would gladly sacrifice the additional damage against armoured to get some time back (5 or 6 seconds) and maybe +1 range, since this ability was not meant to be a variant of the psi storm in that it is primarily to keep things in place. The new fungal is considerably weaker in ZvZ since it doesn't buy you as much time to get units as the old one did, but I'm guessing the nerf against mutas was intended. Two things I don't like: the highlight on the leagues (when you see 3 of your chosen teams) needs to be fixed because right now the bottom part lights up behind the frame when it was probably intended to light up the same way as the top part - without the frame, inside. The other thing is that the top 8 of a league has a gold background for their icon (in the division view) when it should be league-specific. Gold is less than diamond and masters and more than bronze and silver, so it looks a bit silly. The generic (below top 8) background is perfectly OK since the icon itself indicates your position. If that makes any sense.
I like the new custom game UI Really revived my faith in blizzard Chat room joining (and CRs in general) need to be more efficient i think. joining a 71- people chat room with my i7, 8gb ram and ssd shud mean no lag. agreed with the icon bliz needs to work just a lil on making their MMR better bliz needs to make more and better ladder maps, and start making a few custom maps too cuz cmon bliz u can just go WoW... anyways, the new sc2 is very crisp-looking
do the new replay bars/features only work for 1v1? I've played some 2v2 since release and there isn't any option to see them.
The hided losses is a good thing, although I'd like to see my wlr sometime. Maybe it should be optional. And about FG: It's not really an anti-armor spell, it never was. FG is useful to keep units in place, and to hit groups of units. Armored units are slow, most of the time, so you don't really need to keep them in place. They're very big as well, so you can't FG a group of thors, for example. I prefer the old FG.
Oh, and is it just me, or is everyone in teamgames cheesing since the new patch? I've played 10 teamgames last 2 days, and 8 of them (literally) were cheese (8 pool, cannonrush, mass tier 1, etc). I think it has something to do with the hided losses, because people now think 'It doesn't matter if we lose, others can't see it anyway'..
just you i assure you, the amount of cheese has only increased slightly (don't worry it shocked me too; i didnt know how there could be any more cheese ) >=d btw it's "hidden".
OMG, yeah, it's 'hidden'. Fail on my part. Well, I hope you're right. I don't want to have 2 good games for every 10 games I play.
I'm confused on how they do placement because I took my placement for 1v1 and I won against a Silver league player and I got placed in Silver league, is it according to your opponent?
Of course. The same way your promotion and demotion depends on who you beat and who you lose against. If you're asking whether you got into silver because you beat a silver league player then the answer is no. You got into silver because you beating the silver player changed your MMR in such a fashion that it qualified you into silver.
Placement is still screwy though. Played a 2v2 with my younger sister. We won and got placed in bronze.(It wasnt even a close match, our opponents never won a major battle, and there were a few of them) Played a 4v4 with her. We lost, and she was placed in bronze, I was placed in gold; despite the fact that she played better than I did(she had better econ, bigger army, and was more aggressive) Havent tried 1v1 because I personally hate playing 1v1s against ppl I dont know.
Does not really relate to the patch, but balance in general: Does anyone else think that brood lords are a bit too expensive costing 300/250 EACH - compared to other units in that price category (thor, collosus etc)? After all, u need more than 3 or 4 of them to be effective.
A single colossus isn't effective either. I don't think BLs cost too much, but I do think that they could do with a speed buff (or upgrade).
Only a slight bit costly. Agreed w/ kuvasz. Cept that one BL in a good army is (as well is colossus) in a good army is prolly more effective than one wud think
