    I kinda think they are getting in to too many gimmicky (probably not using word correctly lol) things. Like the whole, collecting faster, +2 supplies, the way we collect gas. Is it for balancing purposes or just to add more new things? I dont mind it, but itd be cool if they focused more just on the "army" units. Just my two thoughts

    PS, I want to try this out :((( lol

    Nice, I love upgrades.

    I would love for all units and stations to have a large amount of differing upgrades.

    Maybe some that can work together or you can only choose 1 or 2 of the following.

    Would make the game more interesting.

    WTF? i think some of these have gone too far, too gimmicky like chained said.

    I doubt most of that stuff will make it into the final build. The bigger SCV just sounds odd.

    The bigger SCV is an attempt to bring back some macro. Protoss now with the Dark Pylon, and the Zerg mechanic has just not yet been revealed I guess. I wonder if these will replace the double shutdown gas mechanic or co-exist.
    I actually like these ideas as the nature of them are positive - the double shutdown gas thingy is like a penalty you have to watch over, while the new ideas are bonuses you have to watch over.
    Noobs would get annoyed with their gasses shutting down without knowing what to do all the time but now it would go unnoticed, which would let them focus on learning the basics of micro and such.


    I have a theory for the +2 Supply upgrade. Overlords can be upgraded into Overseers, granting spells, detection and +2 Control. In the same manner Supply Depots could individually be upgraded into greater Supply Depots, granting hp, (perhaps 1 armor) and +2 Supply. As long as these upgrades are individual they add some macro.
    I wondered what the Protoss would get and then it struck me that the Dark Pylon probably is an upgraded regular Pylon which grants it the boosted resource gathering ability hp/shields and +2 Psi.

  11. They want to cater to the pro-gamers and add more micro and macro into to the game.

    This information was given by a Blizzard employee... wth?

    I don't get it... If they want to compensate for all the macro they've taken away with the MBS, the auto-mine, the idle-worker button and whatever else they've added by putting all these additional things in that, as said before, seem like random gimmicks, why not just get rid of the auto-mine, MBS, etc....?

    Alot simpler, and I think I'd enjoy that the most =)

    I know that they want to make this a different game than the original Starcraft, but why are they instead making it instead more like Command and Conquer by giving everyone random abilities? (Not that I'm saying CnC is the only game that does that)

    I mean, for example, perhaps instead of the Dark Pylon ability or the Dark Pylon itself, depending on if it's used for anything else than that ability and additional Psi, it'd be better if you just make a passive ability that makes Mechanical Protoss units move faster while in normal Pylon Power, so it's beneficial to just shove a Pylon into your mineral line to make the probes move faster, but they should make sure that the speed weak enough so that you should only really do it if you've got minerals to spare.
     
  13. They want to cater to newer RTS fans, casual gamers, and those who just like newer features. StarCraft II would be a flop compared to what it could be if it did not incorporate these features.

    yeah there isnt really a official statement but i bet sometime this week they will back down the rumor if it is indeed a rumor.

    Hmm I dont like the Dark Pylon or CC things, but perhaps its needed to please the pros (its like macroing).
     
  18. I guess you're right. The topic I got this information from first was at BlizzForums.com and they seemed to have implied there that these highlights were direct quotes from Xordiah.

    Yes, that would a lot better but only as an upgrade at perhaps robotic support bay, if it came standard it would be a bit too much of an advantage for say, a 12 nexus.

    The problem is just that blizzard want to create more reconomy micro/macro for the pro players. If its just a passive abbility just cut it from all races??? Adding a building with a passvie abbiliy like that reminds ME of CC3
