New player woes

I just recently picked up starcraft 2 about a week back and i love it so far. Thing is i need some serious advice on improving my overall game in multiplayer because it seems like no matter what strategy/build order i use, i always seemed to be one upped by the other player. So any advice would be appreciated because the 4 win, 33 loss ratio is getting pretty demoralizing.

Ok with that ratio you're definitely in the wrong league, so I can't give you any useful advice. Why didn't you play all your 50(?) practice matches before entering a league? You must've seen you weren't ready.

Well i let one of my higher league friends convince me that the novice maps make you develop bad habits so i skipped them, bad idea on my part i suppose but im a greenhorn and easily persuaded :p. But considering as im in bronze league i have nowhere else to go.

Play customs 2v2s and 1v1s man, don't wanna rape your league score any more than you already have. xD Takes time, and if you've never really play SC it takes even longer bro.

I noticed you said "Your friend persuaded you..."

Does your friend play with you/help you? If he doesn't then... uhh.. haha
He got you in this position, so he should be able to give you some help.

Try versing the AI, really helped me with macro and speed.

Also, in sc1, i felt exactly like that.
I would get SO UNLUCKY that my strat was always countered by my opponent, even tho i scouted and HE DIDNT.
then i watch my friends play. they are supposedly better than me. I see SO many openings for attack and harassment. but they do nothing. When i find one in my games, i use it to my advantage, but SOMEHOW it's thwarted by my STUPID YET LUCKY opponent. this is what happens when you break a mirroe -.-

Oh man I did the same thing skipping my practice matchs luckily I was a decently seasoned RTS player but i totally screwed my score Im a silver 1v1 cause of it a bronze 2v2 but a Platinum 3v3 and 4v4 player cause I prefer team matchs lol anyways youll be fighting the curve for a long time if you continue to play without practice and youll end up like me Id have to win about 20 1v1 games to rank up to gold and like another 80-100 to rank to platinum 1v1 cause ive got like 120 total games in 1v1 i think like 65wins to 50 losses.. I recovered decent but it will just take forever to get back o_O

I recommend checking out build strats on like youtube or something, copy them and execute what i call time trials so build 20 marines in 6 minutes or something like that make the goal of 20 marines and try to beat your time by cutting the fat from your macro this will ensure that your macro is faster and produces more units than your opponet for a long time, giving you that edge youll need to crush your opponet with a bigger army everytime.

There some trials with tips thats are prety usefull training exercises I found. You also might be having trouble finding the race that suit your playing style too. They really do play very differently from each other I find. Balanced yes, but there play styles are completly different.

I think the three races can be discribes like this (others feel free to chip in!)

Anilate the enermy with your guns and seige wepeony, defend with the strength of a fortress and build a army that hard as nails as the terrans!

See everything, be everywere and attack at the weakness in your foes defences with a army that seems endless as the zerg!

Shows there children and beasts just who rules the galexy with the elite forces of the protoss!

You can definitely get demoralized when you jump into league play too quickly. I'd really suggest going back and doing your practice matches to get the skills down. Sounds like your friend just wanted to help boost his ratings a bit.
