    This is either going to go very well for Nvidia, or very badly.

    Gforce, always check if there's something new on its way before you make a purchase :p

    Once I bought intel celeron right before intel core 2 hit the floor.
    Fail =(

    And I considered to buy a new 200 series card just yesterday. I think the prices for the last generations are not lower yet.

    1. they're not out. this is what we call a "paper launch": they announce the product, let it get reviewed, but you still can't buy one for another two weeks.

    2. they kinda suck. the 480 is definitely not worth the money: huge power draw, high temperatures, and a significantly higher price for a minimal performance gain over the 5870. the 470 is "ok", very slightly better than the 5850 but also more expensive. it manages to land squarely in between the 5850 and 5870 in terms of price and performance, but again, with higher heat output and power draw.

    wait 2 weeks to see if ATI lowers prices in response. if they do, get ATI cards. if they don't,, you can consider the 470, but the 480 simply isn't worth it.
