So my old mouse finally died on me and I was forced to buy a new mouse without giving it too much time. I bought Razer Lanchesis 4000 dpi mouse. Yeah it looks alright although it is slighty big and heavy but I am sure I can get used to that. But what I cannot get used to is the constant zelaous jumping around of the cursor. Whenever it comes for slower precision movements of the cursor there tends to be random movement involved. I do not know if it's simply the extreme sensitivity of the mouse but playing around with the settings did not solve it. Then again I am not expert. For someone who plays HoN (trying to click on small figures while moving around) and does work in photoshop (manipulating with individual pixels) this is the most really annoying. Is there any way of fixing this? Or is it just me not being used to operating this kind of mouse? Any tips? Cheers.
OK, just if i get it right: Your mouse-Courser doesn't stand still or move in the way it should but rather jumps around! Sounds to me as if your mousepads (if you use any - otherwise your desks) surface doesn't work to well with your mouse. Try some different surface to use for your mouse, shoud help out. Preferably something non-reflecting!
Yes to further Amduscias point you should pick a surface that is dark and non glossy. If your desktop or whatever your mouse is on has reflective properties then this can cause issues with smooth movement especially with a high dpi mouse. Taping a plain piece of copy paper into place over the area you keep your mouse will work wonders.
Is the mouse laser, optical, ball, or G based? Is the mousepad just flat black (often times, with optical mice, a blank mousepad causes issues)? Is the mousepad clean? Have you been checked for Parkinsons?
Is the mouse laser, optical, ball, or G based? G based Is the mousepad just flat black (often times, with optical mice, a blank mousepad causes issues)? Its dark gray Is the mousepad clean? As clean as I can get it Have you been checked for Parkinsons? My god... No. Mac has to die in a hellfire.
Is there anything vibrating on or near your desk? Like a wobbly fan? Or a subwoofer? Is your mouse pad very hard (glass) or very soft (sponge)? Something inbetween is best. I use an A3 self healing cutting mat as my mouse pad. I find this to be an optimal surface. I also suspect the dpi is higher than your old mouse. In control panel, set mouse acceleration to zero. Then reduce the mouse tracking speed until fine/precision movements feel right. Then increase mouse acceleration until screen wide movements feel right.
But this cant be right. I see nobody complaining about this issue and it is supposed to be top notch gaming mouse. My mousepad worked extremely well with my old mouse but perhaps Ill need to buy overpriced mousepad to go with my overpriced mouse.
Gaming mice can sometimes have an abnormally high sample rate. eg, 1000 samples per second. If your usb port cannot keep up with that data rate, or if it communicates with high latency, then it may cause issues like you are describing. If your mouse is connected through a hub (either an internal or an external hub), or to old usb1 port, then try moving it to a usb2 port directly to the motherboard, so it isn't passing data through a hub.
Found something for you. I know it's not the same mouse but it still may pertain to your problem. Check it out. Razer Mamba Gaming Mouse Jitter Problems http://tanksgame.org/razer-mamba-jitter-problems Jasmine is making a good point as well with the usb consideration.
