Hey, i just got a new ipod nano.

Anyone have any hints or tips to keeping it running for ages. Like, don't let it die and not work.

Don't hold it by the earphones. My Mp3 still works but the sound isn't as good anymore because the connection from the machine to the headphones has loosened. It's damn annoying!

Things not to do that will break an Ipod:
    -throw it at the ground
    -drop it over solid ground
-drop it over bodies of water
    -hold it by the wires
-let others borrow it (guaranteed to eventually break)
-let it get too hot/too cold
    -electrocute it

These are what I can think of, but I bet there are many other ways they could break, just don't try to do any of them.

Also, I bet someone is going to try these just because I said not to...

To ensure your iPod does not brake pt it in a hermetically sealed, temperature controlled, shock absorbing box surrounded by a Faraday cage and armor plating and never opening said box, plugging anything in or removing said plugs, turning it on or off or pushing any buttons.

In the event you actually want to use it then just don't drop it or abuse it

I suggest you get the extended waranty from the store.. like the 2 years more for like 40$

if it breaks.. make sure you actually use the waranty and ask for a new iPod which is the equivalence of what your iPod was when you bought it (you'll probably end with a better iPod for free)

about 3-6 months before the waranty ends.. do the same thing even if your iPod works... and explain them a weird bug with it.. and tell them that you get a new iPod.. bla bla bla.. it might work.. if it doesn't.. put it in a glass of water for a while.. then.. wait like 2 weeks so it dries completely.. and then use the waranty..

on your new iPod which is going to be even better than the first one (I mean.. crappier because they always make them cheaper and cheaper now) If you can get the extended waranty, do the same thing, if not.. well.. at least you got a new iPod for 40$

PS. This method might not work but it worth a try..

Does the warranty cover immersion in water?

I would think it wouldn't and most electronic devices that don't have water damage coverd by the waranty have water reactive stickers so they will know if you dunk it.

Go for it. It at least covers the battery, once a year you can get it changed free

Most electronics that go in water do not break, unless you turn it on while wet, or still soaked, which messes up the circuit or w/e.

I know.. it doesn't cover immersion... but.. you let it dry and you don't tell the dude at BestBuy.

Yeah.. that's the point.. you **ck the circuits and then you let them dry and return to get a new device..

if you don't turn it on and let it dry.. it might still work.. just like usb keys.

about the battery.. they will only change it, you won't get a new iPod.
