sometimes it gets hard following the movement of story in starcraft, the quick jump from planet to planet. i know theres warp speeeed... but what i would like to see it a galactical map of the events of starcraft. where the planets are in the kopluru sector, where space stations/platforms are located, where major events took place. so we have a sense of the true scale behind starcraft.

or is there a 3rd party galactic map of the starcraft universe? ide love to see one.

News: mc2 is rewarding concreteasflesh an extra 200 minerals for this excellent idea. (If you think you have superb ideas or high quality posts that deserves extra mineral awards, PM me with a link!!)

    /agreed
The map in W3 made the story easy to follow sooo right not here of course it wont be the exact same though since its a galactic one

    Sounds like good fan-art material.

But some of the interplanetary storylines don't make alot of sense to me. The starcraft guide notes that Auir and the terran dominion worlds are on the edge of the galaxy while char is near the core, whereas in the span of the single player missions you go from the terran dominion to char and back again - I never really understood that.

It's a very good idea, when I first played I got confused too with all the planet jumping, and sometimes the space platforms and stuff. I mean why the hell is there an orbiting platform around Char? Who built it there?

    - Zerus (ex zerg homeworld)
    - Char (zerg current homeworld)
    - Aiur (ex protoss homeworld)
    - Shakuras (protoss current homeworld)
The 4 planets above are almost outside the Kropulu Sector, they are very very distant from each other

Tarsonis, Moria, Braxis, Korhal, Mar Sara, Chau Sara are all currently or former Terran worlds and I believe they are in pretty close proximity to each other

An impressive list, mc2. Did you call that from memory?

And I also fail to see the logic of orbital platforms around Char. o_O

the orbiting platform above char was built by the xel'naga when the were originaly creating the zerg spieces if u read the storie it says so then they were hunted down and killed by the zerg hehe

Uhm. Zerg homeworld was Zerus. Not Char.

Xel'naga were never near Char actually.

hmm i guess your right. i guess i was mistaken but i just looked and i cannot find anywhere where it says the overmind moved from zerus to char sooooo, anything could of happened, in my humble opinion they found a spiecies they wanted to enslave and took over their homeworld with the orbiting space platform just remaining there

Hmm seems a little too Command & Conquer (you know tactical map of region between missions), maybe integrate this into the briefing "cinematics" (If there is to be a sort of briefing cinematic sequence (perhaps being able to look around the briefing room, or showing people wondering around.. etc)), or have the galactic map shown prior to briefing map or after it, or even show it as a selectable option within briefing...

Either way, not by any means innovative, but it would be nice to see where your supposed general location is and where your next mission is set.

wait.. some people still think char is the zerg homeworld? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE PAST DECADE?
char is not near the core and it is not the zerg homeworld zerus is.

It's better to define "homeworld" as the planet where the majority of the population of the race currently resides. Not where the race's earliest ancestors originated from.
So in that sense Char would be the Zerg's homeworld, as Kerrigan and most of the zerg broods reside there. Zerus was a former Zerg homeworld.
Also Shakuras is now the Protoss homeworld, Aiur is the former one.
Also Earth is Terran's homeworld because most of the humans in the year 2500 would live on Earth. But if you want to specifically say the "Dominion's homeworld", then it would Korhal.

Which reminds me, has anyone attempted to directly assault Zerus?

R.I.P. anyone that tries. Or all the Zerg have left Zerus in the various attacks on Terran worlds and Aiur.

    um... no it's not
Look at Homeworld (the game) they were trying to get back to their homeworld which they were exiled from many many generations ago and their entire population lived on Kharak not their homeworld (Hiigara) (and then the mothership after their planet was firebombed). The mothership certainly wasn't their homeworld when their entire population was living on it.

    1. This forum is about Starcraft. So other game's definitions should not be transferred here. Not even Warcraft's.

    2. In the first mission of Episode IX "The Stand", Zerutal tells Aldaris that all Protoss on Aiur needs to be evacuated to the Dark Templar's homeworld of Shakuras. Now clearly that the DTs were originated from Aiur many years ago. But since they were detained from Aiur, and settled in Shakuras, the Dark Templars claim Shakuras as their homeworld.

    3. The definition for homeworld I stated is more correct for Starcraft.

Back on topic... I wonder how far earth actually is from the other planets. It would be cool if they showed that as well.
