Hey guys, long time no see. Anyways, i just bought some parts to a new computer i hope to make soon. It's a budget gaming computer, coming out to around 800 bucks, but i hope to upgrade it as it goes. Here are the specs.

    RAM - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820146565
    Hard drive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148262
OS - Windows vista home premium 64 bit - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16832116204
    DVD ROM drive - http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827135151

Yea i know the graphics card is bad, i'm replacing it with a 8800 gt once i upgrade. Can't wait to get it, though! Does anyone have any good guides on how to assemble it? I know how to put in the cpu and stuff but some of stuff like putting in the motherboard is a bit iffy.

Why don't you just let someone from the computer shop assemble it?

If i were you i would learn it from a person. My greater brother is an expert, an he has already learned me some think. It would imo be risky to just try it without an expert at you side.

Woo! today i got all my stuff and put it in. Ok, so i put in the power supply plug things in, but i can't get past something. My HDD led or power led don't really work, well my HDD led just blinks sometimes but the power never comes on. These little bits i plug on my motherboard are confusing... anyone have some tips on how to plug these in? Some of them arn't even labled! Also, when i boot it in it says press del to go to the bios settings, but when i do it's not working. Strange. Anyone have a bit of advice?

My motherboard's getting juice and so are the fans and lights... weird.
Also, i find it stupid my motherboard only came with 1 sata cable. gonna have to go buy another one.

perhaps Laptops save space, but therefore there isn't so much air, and the laptops get to warm. Its also therefore gamer-laptops costs alot. Because you need something to cool the laptop down, and because there isn't much air its very hard. On my computer (not a laptop), i only have standard equipment for holding it cool. Its because there is so much air.

Hmm I built my dad's pc recently and the hardest thing was to install the cpu fan.

about the motherboard.. it's pretty easy.. once your power supply is installed in your case (it's probably already there) put your case on the side and put your motherboard in it.. you'll notice in the case some holes where you can screw (is that the good verb.. lol I never used that word before) once you check were you can screw your motherboard, put the... hmm I wonder how you call those things.. it's something you can screw the screw in it.. anyway.. put them where they should be according to your motherboard.. once that's done.. find the dc-in of your motherboard and plug it to the power supply.. then you can place the processor and its fan, the ram, the lil wires for the front LED and usb plugs, your dvd player and your graphic card.. it's pretty easy... in fact the motherboard probably comes with a guide that will help you fixing it in the case.

    good luck!

Oh I just saw the message where you recieved your pieces..

Yeah those little wire can be confusing.. but didn't your motherboard came with some adaptors to plug these in? you plug the small non-labeled wires in it and it becomes a wider "plug"

If you don't have it guess you can buy that for like 1$.. however, you don't really need it.. just check the internet for a guide for your motherboard.

I could just be sounding like a nerd again, but building computers is a learning curve, yet its a lot of fun but at the same time requires some patience =) Hope all goes well in your new computer. I recently got a new computer myself, and building it was so much fun. Hope you have the same experiences as well.

Heh, I already bought it :O. But i purposefully got a pretty cheap graphics card so I could upgrade it sooner. I'm planning on getting the 9800 GTX once it's available.

By the way, it's running like a dream with TF2 maxed out w/o anti aliasing or anitropic filters and Bioshock also on those settings. Overclocked the C2D to 3.0 Ghz, though.

Umm, don't get the 9800 GTX as soon as it comes out. One, it's going to be over five hundred bucks at the very least, and two, you'd be better off going SLI with some cheaper card since most games don't need that. Also I don't know how much the power requirement for the 9800 is going to be but you prolly want more than 500W, especially if you still plan on overclocking your CPU.

You aren't going to be better off with SLI IMO...
SLI is really only usefull if you allready have a OK grafic card but want to get a higher performance. The loose by SLI (60-80%), is just to big.
And IMO 8800 is the best grafic card you can buy if you want a top-end PC, because as Wlck742 allready said, the 9800 eats W like babies drink milk.
