Well, I have been sseing many of the advises you guys give to new players and I have tried to follow them, my gameplay has improved a lot, and I went from 50ish to 4th now in Bronze, see attached games and tell me what else can I improve.
Hmmm Well beyond the fact the guys you played were pretty bad You did really good good tech saw you got those first few upgrades for the marines workin them drop ships a lot of good moves. I don't know if someone told you to put supply depots around your perimeter but in higher level gameplays that came come back to screw you bad. Like if the protoss on sands had gotten a couple voids, he not only would supply blocked you and had you running around try to catch him you would give him the chance to charge his voids. Or Mutas from the zerg ya you could cover your workers but the next target would be those random depots around your perimeter to supply block you and throw you off your game. Thats one major thing I saw also vs. the zerg on Delta Quadrant you built AA turrets for no reason up on the ledge. a definite lack of scouting and you never held Xel'Naga watchtowers. Your definitely are pretty vulnerable whereas your only doing one build kind of a 1 1 1 build with an extra barrracks. Your army is fairly small around 6-8 minutes cause your burning a lot on buildings. Might work in the plan to hellion harass with dropship or something to give some more versatility. Get siege tech super fast maybe that way you turtle your front door almost indefinitely. Anyways thats what I saw... Your stuffs good great solid playing like when you built a depot in the blind spot byt the rocks in blistering sands(I know i said depots outside main are dumb) but that one is good. Woulda liked to have seen you scout all of Delta Quadrant once you established air dominance though and banshees woulda been GG since he was all roaches and banelings. I dunno i could go on forever cause a lot of its heresay. Youll see what i mean though about the scouting, the watch towers and the vulnerability to rush once you push up a few leagues. A piece of training that I use is playing vs an AI and timing my build order so ya I wanna have a 1 1 1 build but to make sure I dont get rushed ill need 8 marines and siege tech on a tank or two by 6:30 minutes via stopwatch for example. And for fix builds i execute them 5-10 times in practice matches and try to secure the fastest order in which to do things. Building those depots so far from your main definitely adds up time to these techniques. Anyways bottom line good stuff you wont be in bronze for long and keep up the good work, =oD
Thanks Rockthedojo, I build supply depots around my base to have vision of the entire zone, but it is true, either a protoss void or a muta can take advantage of that. I never though about getting some hellions, so I'll try that. About my scouting, sometimes I forget to do that, which is an error on my part, and I use all my Command Center's energy on mules. So I should maybe mix that a bit.
Ya dont feel too noob about it it happens to everyone i was just pointing it out so you get in the habbit of it lol. Its hard to macro your hair out and scout at the same time sometimes but scouting is that little extra that will really help your game. Also I was watching Debo livestream for the first time today... He's a pro from team liquid he has some sick sick moves for Terran simple stuff a lot of people can pull off but I might also recommend checking out his livestream when you can youll learn a lot. He also was talking a lot and after like 6 matches or so he started chatting it up and taking question. He was also explaining what he did and why in reaction to what they did etc. etc. really giving an entertaining learning experience probably my favourite live stream to date even though ima Zerg. i really wish for a newer play not playing terran as i suck with them but i can tell you some basic macro stuff some basic stuff, you seemed pretty good on building scvs all the time, you expand way late though and were overly defencive ( you got an engineering bay and 3 turrets which is enough to expand) you also queue up buildings this is bad, it costs money to in the now which you could use to do something now and then go back and build the building when the previous one is done ( same goes for queueing units)
@toochaos I am not exactly new to starcraft, I played the original as a terran. But you are rigth, I should have expanded earlier. I tend to get the engie bay earlier so I can get upgrades, but the turrets, specially when I don't see air units on my opponents side, should be avoided. I also tend to queue buildings to avoid being supply blocked, but its true, I need to work on that. Thanks for the input.
Everyone basically pointed out what you need to know. Just make sure you're always pumping units out of your barracks, for example the 1st game, you made another barrack which was good but nothing was coming out of it for the longest time, making it seem kind of pointless that you made it. Just some lack in macro management, timing is everything. Always do small pushes but don't commit to it, just go in and poke and see if you can scout any "specific" buildings out. Like the 1st game, if you had saw the robotics you wouldn't even had to make defense turrets, hell you could of won the game before that thing came down already. If you don't see a lot of units when your poking them, then expand - tech up - commit to small attacks/harassment and get even more ahead of the game. Good work though, your making progress.
Diamond Hey guys, Just registered to this forum and I'm glad to be part of this community. So I was checking out internet to get better with my starcraft game and I came across diamondleaguenow.com - You guys ever heard of it? Looks promising but I was wondering if you guys could give me a hint about the guide? Lots of people are telling me to buy it and that it's the best guide out there but I'm still not sure? Any clues or tips would be appreciated!
As toochaos said, day9's cast is quite awsome and will teach you stuff whatever level of play you might be at. Go to his youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/day9tv and read the info on the side(for his stream times and blip.tv link) and also check the channels he has linked below as many of them are also good sources of starcraft stuff.
