Try going to options, and turning gamma up. Let me know if that works.

    From a quick glance....

Your bios is like, super old. You are running 3326, and there have been two updates available on the Acer website for your machine since (3336 in Dec 2009, and 3334 a year earlier. You only need the newest one). The BIOS readme for 3336 does not contain any information on issues addressed. Considering the nature of this problem, and the lack of alternatives to try other then a different Operating System, I would attempt to flash the BIOS.

YOU FLASH THE BIOS AT YOUR OWN RISK! The risk shouldn't be too high since you have a laptop with a battery, so if you lose power, the battery takes over.

I couldn't find a chipset software newer then 17.04 for your machine(Windows XP). I found those drivers on Acers website.

    Unrelated to issue:
    Updated sound driver, here.
    Updated Network driver here.

I hope something comes about. I have to head to bed. If the BIOS doesn't do anything for ya, I'll look into alternatives. Finding new chipset software for your machine is a PAIN. Googling your chipset "nForce MCP77MH" brings up references to your exact model of Acer laptop. O_O WTF.

Well, its an idea. Its possible. Not saying for sure it will work, but its worth a shot.
