    Ok, so.

Just got some new speakers for my computer. They work and everything when I plug them into my Zune, totally awesome.

I get nada out of my computer. I've tried every audio jack, including my headphone jack. No sound. So, I pull up my trusty Vista sound control window. Well. This is what it shows me.

Now, what's squared in red is what I need to be working. Supposedly, according to my computer, there's nothing plugged into them. I haven't the faintest Idea what that SPDIF output is. Apparently, that's what the audio is currently being routed through.

I have five 1/8'' (3.5mm) jacks on the back of my computer, and one on the front (headphone jack). None of them produce anything. I've never had this issue before.

I know it's not the speakers because (A) They work with my Zune, and (B) Headphones nor my old set of speakers no longer function.

I'm running Windows Vista SP1 on a Dell XPS 420 with SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC as my driver if that helps.

Well, can you tell us what you did then?
    I'm sort of wondering here..
Besides, It's always nice to find a thread with an answer if you're looking for one.

All I did was go into Device Manager, disabled then re-enabled my sound driver, then restarted my PC

Yeah it also looks like you're using Realtek Audio manager? I have that crap. Couldn't for the life of me figure out why my front jacks weren't working. LOL

Yeah, what's wrong with realtek audio manager?

Also, all Vista problems are user-generated. I haven't had a single problem. Ever.
