    I had to make this thread one day, so here it is. I basically judge the currently released units based on my opinions and make suggestions. PART 1 with the Terrans.


    TERRANS

    Marine-

    Marines are marines. I do strongly dislike the current model with the bayonet/shield.

    1. It doesn't look good.
    2. It doesn't make sense.
    3. They look like Warcraft footmen.

    The +15 hp upgrade is great, but instead of shields a simple ''powered suit'' upgrade would have done, while for the bayonets I like the stun gun suggestion. I doubt marines will use their bayonets when under melee attack. Once again, it doesn't make much sense for marines fighting in bunkers and spaceships 500 years into the future to have these primitive tools. If not this, at least a redesign would be appreciated. Current model- 5/10

    Reapers-

    Cool unit. I hope it gets built from the barracks, I dunno if it already so, its confusing.The pistols for weapons make total sense. 8.5/10

    Ghost-

    Great Unit. Sniping is going to be feared and drop-pods are nice. I don't know what other abilities it has, but I wonder at the increased cost, because the unit doesn't seem more useful. A redesign is needed, that includes the rifle, which is too long and bulky. Current model- 7.5/10

    Viking-

    Awesome. The concept is gold. A transforming walker/superiority fighter. Maybe change the name, its not bad, but perhaps something cooler, but I guess it makes sense to call it so. This unit is going to come very handy. 9/10.

    Banshee-

    Love it. It fits my strategy, I always wanted a good anti-ground light aircraft, and the cloak ability just adds the spice. 9/10

    Thor-

    Hate it/Love it. I do love the old model, it fits my strategy perfectly, I couldn't wait to be able to play it, it was my favourite unit. I have always advocated that it DOES NOT overlap the siege tank on the basis of defence/offence, plus the concept. While the current version is a paragon of disappointment and a humble beggar of the formers glory, Its a relieve that the AA model was cut after perhaps 1 day in all its blunt stupidity. Yet the need-to-get-killed-twice-idea is a source of hope, it leaves to be asking for more. Bring it back. Old version- 10/10. Current- 3/10.


    Battlecruiser-

    I'm satisfied. Finally theres multiple lasers and the new plasma torpedoes are what I always wanted for battlecruisers to have. Always my best friend, 10/10.

    Nomad-

    *sign*. Well it was of a surprise it being released so early, it felt as a such unbaked unit attracting hate. I do like the towers but I wish for more abilities and info on them. I do like it being an engineer craft.
    I guess the most trouble comes from the design. Well I have to follow the common proverb ''gold must go'' and share the disappointment, which is yet negated when you see the video of the nomad working, when suddenly everything makes sense. But what I dislike the most is the front part of the nomad, the pilot cockpit, it looks so redundant, frankly, like a redneck trailer :p. Needs more work- 6.5/10

    Sensor Tower-

    Very nice and useful. Consider the suggestion of units being able to get hit when under its detection. Balancing issues may cut with the suggestion of having that damage get cut in half, or maybe even a 50% chance of a miss?

    Side Notes-

    Well this might attract the most controversy and raised eyebrows, but I strongly dislike the new Siege tank model, in both its forms. Yeah. The barrel looks too much, and it looks unreal. Whats up with that green?

    I agree in most of your points, and here are my opinions:


    Marines: Actually the shields are not out of date I think. They need to defend themself somehow, and I think it was a great idea to add an other defence to them.

    I agree with you at the reaper, but I liked the merch heaven, that made a lot of sense so that it wasn't wuilt as a tank, but the factory is ok with me too.

    And yeah the ghost's riffle is just too long, cut it's end and it will be ok.

    The banshee, is very useful but I heard some news that it will loose its splash damage so I don't really know what to say.

    About the thor.. I didn't even see the new version, what is the difference?

    The BC is nice, but could be more blocky if you ask me.

    I like the nomad, good replacement of the science vessel. Fresh meat to the terran army :)

    That would be interesting to see that units can hit others in the sensor towers range, but it's fair I think. Even without the chance of missing. You still don't know what you hit.


    And plus: The Planetary fortress is one of the best defences for expansions, it slaughtered the reapers in the video, I wanna know if it is able to fly or not.

    I agree with you on most.

    Although I'd like the marines bayonet to have some battle signifigance against 'fleshy' units.

    The Ghosts model is disgusting, looks like spider man in a white suit with a big ass gun. Stealth plz. Also they should change the Drop Pod animation, the physics seems wrong with it coming in high speed then suddenly stopping, a slower desent would please me more.

    Yea the old Thor was more desirable.

    I wouldn't mind if the Yamato attack damaged all units within the explosion. Makes sense really..

    Nomad is fine so far I have little problems with it except it don't look like its flying.

    Major disagree with Siege tank tho I think its just right.

    That slowing you mentioned is caused by some rocket engines on the other side of the pod, it is realistic, cause the marinmes wouldn't survive the impact, and slowing them down just before crashing was a good idea I think. (I didn't check the video now, but I think there is a sign of the engines, which slow it down)

    Nah, what I was pointing out is, the pods come in really fast then suddenly slow down before landing. Leading to me saying they should add a mid point between the really fast and slow parts.

    Well, that could be good, but maybe inbalanced, cause it would give more time for the enemy to react.

    I can't comment on the other things but something caught my attention. Why is the Ghost's rifle too long? It has the ability to snipe. There is a reason it's so long and not because it looks cool but because of accuracy. It has to be long otherwise it'd be as effective as shooting with both eyes closed.

    But the backpack has to go... I mean wtf is up with that? Why would it need such a huge pack? It reminds of Kabal from MK:A, who also looks pathetic (though he has that for a different reason).

    I think Blizzard wants to beef up the Ghost with all these equipment, which is why it gave 100 hitpoints to it. They're going in the wrong direction though, not emphasising enough that the Ghost is a stealth agent and not some beefed up Marine who goes in, shoots first and asks questions later. This is simply wrong.

    IMO the Ghost should be like:
    -Appearance: The ghost should look slim (being able to move using the structural elements of a building such as thin pipes and ceiling structure) and have black suit instead of the omfglookhere white and should lose the huge backpack - it's just simply unpractical.
    -Stats: Weak, because it doesn't get as much physical training as Marines do. It should have less hitpoints than an hp upgraded Marine, or better yet, an unupgraded Marine. It wouldn't make the unit useless because it could have nice damage stats, not to mention the abilities (nuke, summon 6 units, EMP).

    I think this apperance would be acceptable, but I still say that the riffle doesn't need to be as long as it is now. I would be happy with todays riffle size, and yes that backpack is not cool..
    I didn't know about that the ghost had so many HP..
    Well, Blizzard made kinda assault unit of the ghost with this, and I also think that it's not the way. So it would be better to give him additional abilities, less hitponts and more energy (or maybe the abilities should cost less energy, so that he could defend himself, I don't think it should be vulnerable to anything even when he is alone)

    Looks like Splinter Cell, but it looks sick anyways. I would be happy with that.

    Too boring. I like the Ghost suit in StarCraft Ghost like I'm sure many others do.

    Really, when it comes right down to it, anything looks better than what they currently have.

    no that is just an in game model of the ghost im sure in the artwork or lorewise it will look similar to nova but a little better. i think the ghost needs more metalic high tech armor instead of more leather clothing. the metal should be intact or similar to the terran marine but lighter and smaller ofcourse. no straps etc. check out my new ghost artwork in the coming weeks.

    anyway nice opinions on the terrans.

    here are some of mine.

    marines - model looks great. Cut the bayonet, they are NOT units from warahammer!

    shields is ok as long as they dont look like medieval shields.

    banshee - doesnt really look updated, it looks like that it can be invented today in the military. Cut the rotors! this is NOT halo wars. and halo is set way before starcraft.

    thor - looks great. make it look like an UVER robot in cinematics.

    merc haven - #$()@#$)(! whats with gay bar? make stacraft NOT a joke.

    viking - a little fat.

    terran factory - looks to simple. the barracks looks more like a factory or high tech building than the factory.

    battlecruisers - GREAT! 10/10. dont ever remove the plasma torpedo.

    nomad - looks BAD and UNinspired.

    I agree with most what you say here, 'cept this.....They get A LOT more. It's the difference between a black ops and a regular soldier (IE, who could beat you up worse....The guy from Splinter Cell or the guy from Call of Duty?)

    Anyway, I hate the coloring and the backpack....With antenna? Weird. The gun....I like it long, but it needs a do-over.
