Hi My game doesn't run smoothly at all. My system specs are more than enough for the game's requirements. I even tried lowering my graphics, and still it jumped frames, and very much! And it gets worse when more things are going on... My system specs are: Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Thanks for providing so much system information right from the start about your machine, others could learn from your example. Have you tried any of the tips in my FAQ for the nVidia over heating issue? If you have, try installing HWMonitor and see what your video card and CPU's temperatures are reading at. Someone else recently posted that their CPU was overheating, and after fixing the overheating issue, StarCraft 2 played almost flawlessly. I have a friend with an older configuration similar to yours, and I was just playing SC2 at 1600x1050 (??) with 4X FSAA and 4X anso really well (first gen Intel Quad core,2GB RAM, 9800GTX+). On this configuration, I make sure the fan on the videocard maxes out to 100% while playing StarCraft 2. It does seem to make the game hitch far less.
Basically this computer should run the game at High graphics settings withpur any roblems. Ultra might be too much though. Make sure that your Energy profle ist set to "balanced" and that your graphics card is not manually underclocked.
I downloaded HWMonitor, and I ran it without SC2 running, and then again with SC2 running. I don't know what is the temperature of overheating CPU's or graphics cards... Can you tell me if it is overheating, and if so, where can I fix it? Weird thing is, my friends all run the game at Ultra, and they have smaller pc's than I do...
Well, I do apologize for not getting back to you sooner. The temps look really good, as a matter of fact.. so I am baffled.
Well, someone said I should uninstall USB devices. I have 2 devises that I can think of. The one is my iBurst Terminal, for internet, the other is my Logitech mouse... So I'm not quite sure how I'm going to check the game if I uninstall one of these devices, seeing that I need them in game... Also, someone suggested that I should try and run it on less cores, because the game might get confused...? I'm not quite sure if this would work... Please, any help would be appreciated!!!
even if you uninstall the Logitech software, the mouse will still have basic functions. I somehow doubt that will do it though. Maybe I should just start selling my troubleshooting services and log into peoples machines and lay down the *BAM* HAND OF JUSTICE. @+@ some stuff is just easier to discover one on one with the machine.
You could try alt-tabbing out, then doing ctrl-alt-del, right clicking on Starcraft in the process tab, and setting the affinity and the priority to something different.
The only time I have seen hitching on my buddies machine with a Geforce 9800GTX+ 512MB, is when it was trying to use ultra textures. Everything was on ultra, except textures were on high. Some people are reporting a difference in performance with 3D portraits off. Some other people reported getting better performance after installing the game into their Steam profile and using that to adjust video settings. No clue what that is doing. I wish I had my machine running so I could try all this different crap. *head + table*
