Hello, im new to this site, and i've heard much about its knowledge regarding starcraft (and 2). I bought starcraft 2 yesterday, installed it on my computer (that has top of the line specs), but when i double dlicked on the icon that was supposed to cause it to play, a small rectangle appeared in the middle of my screen saying starcraft 2: wings of liberty, and then the whole screen went black, then it went back to my backround and said i had to install the latest patch, which i clicked "ok" to. after that, the rectangle appeared again, and the whole process was repeated indefinetly. All i really wanted to do was play starcraft 2, and this is starting to really frustrate me. If any one could help me, i would be very grateful, thanks.
SCII has some copy protection that might require running as administrator. I think this might be an open bug, but you could try right clicking on the SCII application and doing "run as administrator"
I don't know what an "open bug" is, but i have tried running it as an administrator, and that didn't work either, it has the same problems as when i try to run it normaly. thanks though.
An "open bug" is one nobody has a clue how to fix. You might look for some log files in either my documents/starcraft 2 or program files/starcraft 2. There might be an error in there.
The patch loop (I was one of the ones who was caught in it and fixed it) seems to be caused by the updater program being unable to properly connect to battle.net. If you are behind a router, try reading the question in my FAQ " I need to know what ports to forward on my router for StarCraft II, what are they?" and forward them on your router. If that doesn't work, let me know. If you are on a campus network as a collage/university, you may be SOL as they lock down most game ports.
The same thing I told him. Read my FAQ and try forwading the ports on your router. If that doesn't work, let us know and we'll try our best to help you out! FAQ has lots of useful information!
