I know not if this is known by the general public, but if you go to the Phoenix section on Blizzard's website for SC2, you'll see a screenshot of some Phoenixes facing a pack of Mutalisks! So for all you Zerg air rushers, here you go...your reign of terror against me will continue. :bad:

    ...

    Yay Mutalisks!

Well, mutas were already confirmed if you watched the gameplay footage. It shows a colossus being raped by a pack of them before they're countered by some phoenix.

Hey, if they do more damage, than increase their cost and build time. I can't tell you how many times I've been SWARMED by about 60 mutalisks. There's no stopping them, even with a barricade of photon canons as wide as the Grand Canyon. And corsairs? They do nothing. My carriers get cut down, and my favorite Dark Templar can't do anything at all! >.<

Are you kidding 10+ attack upgraded corsairs can take on ALOT of mutalisks, at least 30. Use high templar, psi storm is your best friend against zerg swarms.

Yeah, but I am excited for their return. They were my favorite unit in SC. I don'tcare if they had lizard tongues, they looked badass in the cinematics. Hopefully they have some cooler upgrades/abilities now. I just love a cool, fast, and unique flyer of the swarm.

yea they seem like the glave worm only bounce off of one additional unit instead of two by looking at the gameplay footage. hey i could be wrong!

i think the lizard tongue is the glave worm (their attack)... but hey i could be wrong again! :D

Sorry for being 1 month late; but your advice is good PrivateJoker. I've never really used High Templar. Actually, I haven't used them in over a year. >.<

Actually, you're quite right. The mutalisk is the only living (not droid I mean) starcraft unit that doesn't show his/her face in the little screen (on the interface bar) but rather its weapon.

Big shame, one of the most effective (and one of my favorite) units in the game

I'm more of a Dark Templar person myself, not a High Templar. :)

haha then how were you able to play the original starcraft against the mutas? No dark templars there. :D

yea psionic storm from the high templars definetly helped me when i'm up against the zerg. it feels sooo good hearing all those zergling/hydralisk/mutalisks death screams haha

Yeah. I knew what the picture was of, but I still thought that was its mouth and all it had on top was eyes. I hate bad animations. Lol.

I can understand a person favoring a single race, but a single subset among that race, to the point that you'd rather die than use them? Isn't that a little extreme?

And don't say Corsairs don't work against Mutalisks. The Brood War anti-air units were added specifically to counter large groups of Mutalisks. If you're spending anywhere near as much on Corsairs as your enemy is spending on Mutalisks, you will be wiping them out of the sky. Throw in a little micro (spreading out your units so they don't splash you as much) and they have no chance.

I was a muta rusher myself back in the day. The bane of my existence was the psionic storm. This was really the only good defense against it. Then again, I could just rebuild my horde again pretty quick. I'm sure they are more expensive now.

Still, judging by the gameplay video, i'm not liking how they look. Their wings don't look right to me. They are too close to their bodies. I'm sure they will change a bit before release. Still, I can't wait!

I actually LOVE the new mutalisk look, and i'm looking forward to harassing with them when i play zerg, i never really did it before but after watching vid's with SaVioR and other great zerg players it made me pretty envious

Mutalisk harass used to be wildly over-powered. The Terran could do almost nothing about it. The speed of hit and runs, and the damage type of turrets made it impossible for terrans to defend against mass mutas. I used to use Muta harass in ladder, and my opponents could rarely ever beat me.

And then the valkyries came and laid waste to mutalisks.
And large numbers of goliaths always worked against them.
