    Hi everyone!

I joined in the hope that someone here might be able to solve my SC2 problems, thereby stopping me from the verge of insanity.

More frequently than not my game--and it only seems to happen during multiplayer, and occasionally while viewing a replay from a multiplayer match--will freeze. What happens is that the screen looks strange, as though the pixelization is all messed up, kind of like when old cartridge-based systems, such as the NES, froze mid-game, but the music keeps playing. Then, one of three things happens: the game remains this way, and I have to do a hard boot; the screen turns black, although I can see my mouse cursor, and the music continues playing, and I have to do a hard boot; or the game remains this way momentarily, and then I get a blue screen of death and have to do a hard boot.

I suppose what makes it most annoying is that it seems to happen when I'm winning and crushing an enemy, whereas when I have a lousy partner who has five gatherers and five zerglings it doesn't freeze at all. Nice!

I will attach my dxdiag. Thanks in advance for your time.

Well your specs seem more than enough, The first few things I would go through are pretty basic.

Make sure you don't have an abudance of excess processes running while playing, use msconfig to cut down on this.

Make sure you turn the video card fan speed up while Playing.

Make sure all drivers are up to date, specifically the video ones. Running a windows update can check otherwise youll need to goto the nvidia site.

If none of this improves the problem, start turning down the graphic settings within sc2 to see if that has any effect.

    report back.

Thanks for responding. Actually, and surprisingly, I think I may have fixed it, although I will still follow your advice. However, I am a bit new when it comes to computers; I just my first one this October. How do I increase the fan-speed on the video card? I have an adjustable one for my processor, which I keep up during play.

I seemed to notice that it seemed to glitch when different sounds would happen at the same time, so I turned down the audio settings to minimal. However, it froze once again, so I started playing it in windowed fullscreen mode, and it hasn't frozen since. Also, I started closing out my anti-virus program during play.

I already did those other things you suggested, but telling me how to increase the fan-speed will help.

    Thanks again for your time!

What you describes sounds like something is over heating.

    usually the video card.

Im assuming you can increase the fan speed through nvidia control panel or eVGA precision tool (downloadable)

I know that with ATI cards you can increase the fan speed through the ATI Control Panel Im sure its similar with nvidia cards.

I turned it up from 40 (the automatically selected speed) to 70 but it still froze in-game. However, I was able to play an entire 40 minute game right beforehand, and that was before I even had the eVGA precision. Should I be playing with the fan at 100 all the time?
