So let's say you get your copy of SC2 and you log-in. The options allow you to play campaign or Battle.net multiplayer or map editor. Which will you play first?
We get a topic asking this exact same thing about once a month. So, I'll just give the same answer I always do: 1) I'll read the manual if it's got some interesting lore. 2) I'll complete campaign. 3) I'll get online and pwn the nubs that have never played a StarCraft game before and get tired of the lack of any real challenge. 4) I'll start 1v1ing with some UMS in between.
The problem for me, though, is that it's already pathetically easy to annihilate public newbs on Battle.net. So, I can only imagine that it'll be much, much worse the first few weeks or months when StarCraft 2 is released. But, once serious 1v1s or other expert games start popping up I'll give it a try but I don't expect a reasonable amount of those for a while because they will be invaded by people who are either rude, don't understand of what skill they really are, or just don't know what an "Expert" is. In which case, I'll use this time to read up on this universe that I love so much and get immersed in the campaign. This is, of course, assuming they don't use a leveling or ranking system as flawed as WarCraft III.
I've gone on about it in other topics so you can do a search there. I don't feel like getting into it again.
I'm copying Tychus Findlay here. 1) I'll read the manual if it's got some interesting lore. 2) I'll complete campaign. 3) I'll get online and play. 4) I'll start 1v1ing with some UMS in between. A more interesting topic would be "how different is the campaign from multiplayer?" Not only are there big differences in StarCraft I, but in StarCraft II you'll have alternate units.
That space in between my name above that shouldn't be there grossly offends me!! RAAAAWWRRR!!11!!!!1!! Seriously, though, anyone here actually think they'll not play the campaign first?
I'll definately go up against computers in skirmish mode for the first few weaks using cheat codes a little bit to get familiar with the new units and tactics included in the game. Then I'll go into the campaign give it a go finish it. Then play the skirmish a little more until I think I am ready for online play. Then I'll go online play a few people I don't really care how good they are as long as they at least try. After that I'll probably begin working with the map editor and playing UMS for a while.
You won't have to cheat, just turn the computer AI to the easiest setting. It's practically the same thing.
I'll play the campaign and after that I'll play the campaign again choosing different missions!!!!! Hell yeah!
I'll start of with the campaign, then look at b.net, after getting pwnd a little I think I'll give the editor a try
Thanks for your honesty! I wonder if the battle.net interface will be much different to that of WAR3 battle.net interface currently. I hope they have the option to order pizza delivery on the new battle.net interface!!
Blizzard takes care of its fans- no more excuses for dropping dead after going weeks without a decent meal. StarCraft II will make you breakfast and order pizza!
I will probably get into b.net and play a few games. Then i'll hop on the editor and start on my map. Then hop on the forums and get started on the TOP SECRET SC2 Map Project. Still playing online and campaign in between.
