Which newer movies (2006-9) would you recommend me to watch?
Please make a list of all the movies you can remember. And if there are some movies that aren't out yet, write them down too.

Cloverfield - really good. Don't let the PG-13 rating fool you into thinking this isn't intense. It's intense[b/]. It's much better than some of the "real" horror movies with an R rating. The beginning party scene is kind of cliche-ish but oh well.

I Am Legend - my favorite movie of the year so far. It's got great plot even though it strays a bit from the book. Also very intense.

^A bit children oriented, but a must see for fantasy-lovers...
Books are more deep and philosophic, so i that the next two movies (the trilogy is called his dark materials) wont be so "childish".

I got pissed off at the Lion part, that wouldn't of happened the way it did, also the modeling of them was disgusting. Sorry its just gotta be done right when it comes to things like that.

Hate to break it to you, but unless investors LOVE crippling losses, I don't think there are gonna BE two more movies. As for book series, the first was ok. The second wasn't worth finishing. I never read the third, so can't vouch for it.

Movies are greta every once in a while. I think that going further and saying that books are better can be fatal. The idea that some things just work better on film is very interesting since film was modeled after imagination. I think that both books and movies are worthy of consideration in your lives since they both bring very interesting and worthwhile contemplations on issues that are effecting us globally and even personally, with thier hard hitting dialouge they can be very intense for anyone who is not prepared to take a journney. But yeah, great movies out this year, what I really really want to see is Jumper! My parents brought me to a movie called "The bucket List" Jack Nicholsan and Morgan Freeman. A work of art to be sure, the films script was very good at making the connections in a real way that I personally interpreted to be very well cycled with beginnings and answers, endings and questions, in a way that worked.

Go see movies I don't want to get myself into a bad spot watching something that isn't what I came to see.

I didn't care much for I Am Legend.
Mainly because all the zombies ever did was scream and run really fast, and there were a few scenes that seemed drawn-out.

    Possible spoiler ahead

The part where Will Smith is going into the dark house looking for his dog took forever. I stopped paying attention after five minutes of him tip-toeing through the house, so when the zombie finally popped up I didn't even jump.
And then when Will Smith kills his dog, that was ridiculous. It looked like he was trying to choke it out, but all you could see was a screen full of Will Smith's face straining.

Other than that, it was pretty good.

As long as I'm here, I may as well recommend A Killer Within. It kills the time, and is pretty good for an independent film that's actually an independent film instead of a member of the independent film branch of a major movie studio like almost all independent films.

I really liked Cloverfield and I Am Legend.

I haven't seen the Golden Ompass so I cannot comment.  As for the books, I've read the first two and am part way through the thrid.  I would say the first is definitely better than the second.  As for the third, I haven't finished it yet but so far I think it is also better than the second though not better than the first, so far.

A movie to avoid like the plague is 3:10 to Yuma.  I haven't seen the original so I can't comment about it but the 2007 remake is horrible.  The acting is good, and the plot is sound, its just the characters' actions within the plot don't make much, if any, sense.  To give an example, the prisoner they are escorting kills several of his guards on the course of the journey and the guards don't shoot him or beat him to a pulp or harm him in any serious way.  I'm sorry but if I'm escorting a condemed prisoner and he manages to kill one of my fellow guards, if I don't kill him on the spot, I'm at least going to break both his legs and arms and tie the bastard to the back of a horse.  Hell for good measure I'll break all of his fingues as well just to make sure he can't use his hands at all.  P.S I don't care if this is a spoiler, the movie sucks so bad I'm doing you a favor.

P.S. I though of another movie, Into the Wild. Its based on a true story and I'm reading the book about by the same title. The book is good and I think it the story will make a great movie. I haven't seen it yet but it will be out on dvd in March so I'll see it then, if I can't find a pirated copy before then that is.
