^_^ wouldent be cool if starcra ft 2 allowed mods to be downloaded and played in online games it could make a whole new generation of ums maps! ^_^
you cant thats why im saying it would be a good addition to starcraft2. at the moment you can onley use them in single play
It's possible to mod any game. If you want to look at a specific example of one that Blizzard is allowing, refer to Project Revolution. It's a mod for WC3 that lets you play SC on the WC3 graphics engine.
hey. i made a dota map for starcraft. lol. back to the topic. maybe because the mods are only created by fans and is not really approved by blizzard.
I personally didn't like Dota much because it was unbalanced compared to Tides of Blood that was much better in my opinion and was very popular before Dota took over. I don't think a Dota game would work to well with Starcraft 2 because of the hero and experience system that won't be present in it. I do hope they make some custom games that are just as popular and fun to play like Dota is, even if its a entirely different concept.
I beg to differ. In WoW, Blizzard allows, nay, encourages even, addons and mods. Obviously, not hacks, but stuff to change your UI, or maybe put in the sound effects from the original SC....Smarter hotkeying, that kind of stuff. I think it would make the game funner.
hm. i stand corrected. @PancakeChef dota was pretty unbalanced when it was first made but icefrog constantly updates it for a better gaming experience. but yeah SC2 won't do good for dota.
DotA is fine, just see how you play it.well it is a bit imba in such a way that if sentinel team have 5 int hero and the other team has anything but the same...the game will be short. But do know this int hero are early game hero they can harass/push very fast at early stage of the game...after that well...they are pretty much screwed.
There is actually a program for StarCraft that allows people to play modded maps together online. It is called SCMLoader made by ShadowFlare and you can download it here.
