MMORPG

Anyone else bloody relieved they didn't announce a world of starcraft game? I woulda shot myself. Starcraft 2 is what everyone has been waiting for. There were lots of rumors before that they were gonna announce an MMO starcraft game. THANK GOD THEY DIDN'T!!

 

I am! I would've liked to see an entirely new RTS though, Blizzard need to come up with a new franchise

 

You and me both man. There was that magazine that said it was a World of Starcraft type of thing (PCWorld was it?) and my heart just sank.

As for a whole new franchise I'm unconvinced that's needed. Pimping out loved brands certainly works for Nintendo, and its working for Blizzard right now too. I just hope they get around to releasing Diablo III so that whole segment of Blizzard-land shuts up finally. Guess they got hellgate: london in the meantime, but still... :

 

yeah, I know it's not needed. But I can't wait to see the next new world blizzard decides to make!

 

They are going to combine two of their best selling franchises, Starcraft and Warcraft, and make StarWarsCraft where Thrall Skywalker and Han Reynor team up to take down the evil empire and Darth Defiler.

Well, they have the past. They have the future. What's left? NowCraft! Build nukes you can't use! Invade Middle Eastern countries for valuable supplies! Sit in front of a computer and game your life away!

eh...I did at one point it will take me a little while to find it again.

 

Well the Ghost game he's referring to is Starcraft: Ghost which was this 3rd person stealth/tactical game that was going to come out on consoles. That was canceled though after tons of delays.

I've heard nothing at all about a Ghost-like MMO offering from Blizz though.

 

Last I heard, it was "put on hold indefinitely", so it's possible, but that's like saying Duke Nukem: Forever is possible. Really cool idea though. Look it up on Wikipedia.

I think World of Starcraft would be cool. Blizzard gets more money, Starcraft fans have a good time on it, everybodys happy! But it would be VERY different game play, mostly because of Terran( ranged attacks with guns). It would be a free for all, Protoss vs Zerg vs Terran. Zerg characters would have to be infestested smart, 2 legged units (Terran! Imagion a zergiling player!).

Whoah, when I first heard of World of Starcraft I so thought it was a cool idea =D I still think so... they just shouldn't stop StarCraft 2 or three for it! Just like I think WarCraft IV should still be made! =P

And now that we're talking about making rts' into rpg's anyway... what would a Diablo-based rts game be like? xD

But maybe if we went into that, this shouldn't be at "Starcraft 2 talk" no more......

I was disappointed when I heard Starcraft Ghost was not going to be released, though I am more excited about SC 2 then I was when I thought SC Ghost was coming out. I am not a big fan of MMO's, and I think the Starcraft series should never be responsible for making an MMO, because it's hard for me to see Starcraft as an MMO. It's good as an RTS game. Sometime, they may come out with a Diablo MMO, which has the same third-person view as World of Warcraft. The only problem would be that there would be sooo many of the same type of classes around in a Diablo MMO. They would have to come out with some other character classes.

 

Can you source that? Because all I ever read was that it was, like Fenix said, delayed indefinitely...
