Mind controlling a mothership?

I just thought of a terrible horrible thing....Reject_666_6, you made me think of it with your DA/Battlecruiser comment in the "Underused or Overspecialized Unit that will most likely be removed or revamp" thread..


What if your Mothership gets Mind Controlled? Do you think Blizz will have a block for that if in fact Mind Control is in the second StarCraft?

If the Dark Archon will be in Sc2, then you have 1 of 2 options:
1. You CAN mind-control it if you haven't got one already.
2. You CAN'T if you already have one.
Or it'll just be the boring "Invalid Target" message...

If the DA isn't in Sc2, then it'll be ok...

with two protoss players ona BNet map, you could make like 5 motherships. badass.

It is possible that the Dark Archon can capture motherships meaning a protoss player will have more than one mothership

heck, in SC1 u can have protoss and terran and zerg from Dark Archon's mind control and it technically raised ur unit cap to 600.

So i think they'll make it so DA can MC an enemy mothership.

You dont see hero units Mind Controlled in the main campaigns of sc do you? Think they stopped it with triggers.. not sure.
Anyway the Mothership isnt really one being surely? So how could you control a whole collection of beings with one DA.
Then again maybe the Mothership is controlled by one main pilot or energy complex which could theoretically be controlled.
But as for MC'ing a Mothership, I think its HIGHLY unlikely

Well they also could control battlecruisers who also have a whole crue, it's just a game. But for the sake of balance, please no MC on mothership

Imagine a Protoss player attacking with a Mothership, but then the enemy uses a DA to MC it, but the player has come prepared with his OWN Dark Archon to re-MC the Mothership. But the other player had another DA handy.... And on and on like that until the Terrans 8x Yamato it and finish off the aliens!!! Mwahahahahaaaaaa!

Actually you can mind control hero units, but the campaign AI scripts are specially designed so that they will never MC a hero.

Anyways, maybe the Mothership's captain has some sort of special Psionic power that can negate mind control... that would explain it if you couldn't MC a mothership. After all, they would only entrust very powerful Protoss with the command of a Mothership.

Ok, I've just went and played the protoss campaign in BW where you have to kill Aldairs. You CAN actually mind control Aldaris, once he's mind controlled he dies and I won.

NO! Thats an illusion! You MC the Illusion and then it dies! Aldaris dies scripted, killed by Kerrigan + 3 Lurkers.

Yeah, they've scripted the story so that he has to be killed by Kerrigan's forces in the end. The player's objective is to kill the "main illusion" on the far side of the map. and by mind controlling him does happen to kill it.

Apart from that particular mission we don't get to interact with an enemy hero in-game. So there's no way to prove it.

Well, by not fighting an real hero they didn't need to make it impossible (but its a shame you can do it in user made maps), the only thing they needed to do is make the enemy al NOT mind control or broodling your heroes.

Btw, if you play Enslavers one with broodwar, can you make dark archons and mind control the torasque?

I think you can MC torrasques. That's why Enslavers was designed for the original Starcraft.

Wow... can you imagine getting an army of Torrasques and crushing everything on the map? That would be fun.

I did that once....I used "The Gathering", but no God cheat. You really decimate everything. It's amazingly awesome

are enslavers zerg units from before the starcraft1 alpha, do you have a screenshot?

Enslavers is the campaign you get in sc1, its in the custum maps under custom campaign. They say Brood war has Enslavers 2 (tho I never found it :no: maybe its up for download). Never tried to play enslavers 1 in brood war.

So back to topic and to the original question, yes you can mind control an enemy mothership.
So the 2 protoss players will probably create lots of Dark Archons and keeps on mind controlling each other's motherships
