No, Joe McCarthy. Orchestrator of the Red Scare, and the one responsible for the US's current misguided abhorrence for socialized programs, such as healthcare, schooling, and food supplies.

As long as these programs don't involve
    - healthcare incentives (if you don't live your life in a particular way, then you can expect to pay a fee for your treatments, or become a low priority patient.)

    - schooling that strongly promotes socialization over learning. The most able children are helped to reach down to a common denominator, to ensure that there is no bottom half of the class.

    - a special tax placed on "unhealthy" foods, while others are laced with controversial nutritional supplements.

True, I do agree for the most part, except the last sorta.

Similar to my opinion on the healthcare thing. What you need to survive should be provided. Bread, beef, milk, that kind of stuff. However, things like Twinkies, Hershey Bars, and soda should have to be purchased.

But who decides what are the staple foods you shall be provided with?

Everyone has different needs there. For example, I have a vegan diet. I would want more raw vegetables, pulses and carbohydrate rich foods than you, no doubt. ;)

Perhaps if there were a list of staple foods and common ingredients, and we were each given a ration (free entitlement) to a selection of them, rather than a package of specific food items that we may or may not want.

Yeah, that would work. I'm not a deep thinker or anything (duh right), just a guy with a general idea of how things should be as opposed to how they are.

    ._.
    K.

Healthcare: Anything that affects quality of life should be provided for. This includes orthidontia to an extent (ie to the point where they don't affect eating or cause pain). Cosmetic surgery to help burn victims, accident victims, or other problems, just as breathing problems arising from deviated septums, that sort of thing. You want your nose to look awesome? Pay for it.

Schooling: Provided by state. I honestly do not see a good reason for charging exorbant amounts for schooling. Books, I'm on the fence, could go either way. Extraneous supplies (Notebook, pens, laptop, bag), out of pocket.

I also think that public transit should either be free or free to those without another vehicle.

But hey, this is just me, and doesn't reflect the opinions of Starcraft2forum.org or its users.

holy cow, this is the lounge.

What about people who are born with grotesque noses? Do they get plastic surgery? Who decides who gets it?
    views on immigration?

Also, when do we create an island in the middle of the atlantic ocean and elect you?

Define grotesque? Google comes up with this, and that you could freeze off by getting a 20 dollar kit from Wal-Mart.

Immigration is a tricky one. I think the process should be loads easier than it already is. Biggest things for me a prior convictions for violent crimes, hard drug use (heroin, PCP, meth. Don't give a **** about X, LSD, maaaaaybe cocaine), and gang affiliation. The way I see it, if they REALLY want to get into America, they're going to one way or another, might as well have them actually contribute to the system.

Second one definitely affects quality of life, no brainer. First one, she's got something else going on as well, not entirely sure she'd care about how her nose looks.

Border with Mexico - That was the main subject of my immigration laws, as those are the only immigrants we really have issues with, so.

War in Iraq - No. No no no no. I was uneasy about going into Afghanistan, but that had justification (as far as I know - I'm no expert on current wars). Iraq is just no. It's like - We attack Russia covertly, and in retaliation, they invade Canada. No reason. I'll say taking out Saddam was probably a good thing, as he was not a very nice person, but it was neither the time nor the reason.

Abortion - Pro-choice, within limits. I'd say first trimester is the time to do it. Yes, I'm aware that some women don't find out about it till second trimester, but that's just...urgh to me.
