So far the medivac is said to heal infantry about twice as fast as a starcraft 1 medic, does this also mean it will use up it's energy twice as fast?

A starcraft 1 medic can heal 2hp per 1 energy.

I think a medivac should probably heal 3hp per 1 energy, or maybe 4, since you won't generally be able to have large numbers of medivacs, compared to how you could easily build large numbers of medics in starcraft 1 such that energy was never really a concern.

Does it shoot a beam or do the marines have to be inside it for it to heal them because
there was a discussion about this and i haven't seen any videos showing them healing marines

The most probable reason for that is that they're useless and also look ridiculous, especially in motion.

As for their healing rate, it'd need to be really fast owing to their costs and tier but then it'd be an instant "hp adder" which would look even worse. Maybe it should have an AOE healing field able to heal <subject to balance> number of units at a slow but steady <subject to balance> hitpoints per second rate.

In light of my want for the unit to be scrapped I probably shouldn't have responded though.

It should have an area healing spell that heals a certain amount to 1 unit or a has lf the amount to 2 units (half the healing goes to each)
So if the spell can heal a max of 100 hp, on 10 marines it would heal 10.

I'd say it could be like this so you could use it more often (with cooldown) and so you can't spam it unless you have 1+ medivac

That's not a good idea in my opinion. The healing beam is instant, which is the beauty of it. If Drones had to be deployed as if the Medivac was a Carrier, time would pass and the Marines getting attacked would already be dead. And how about racial integrity? Little swarming Drones doesn't sound very Terran.
    Also: major clutter.

oh alright, anyway, it is just a matter of animation, not gameplay, so whichever way it goes wont bother me too much :)
By the way, what's the healing range for the medivac?

The healing range for the Medivac is 5, the regular Medics healing range is 2.

The Medivac is too high tier to help much. Anyways it only heals one unit at a time. The medic was fine. The only reason the Medivac is there is because the medic couldn't follow a unit. I forgot the name of the unit. The healing aura would help with the Medivac.

uhmm the drones wont necessary need to be deployed they can just hover around the medivac

    another idea...

the regular medic can stay for early game, but for late game they can do a synthesis ability where a medic and a transport carrier can become a medivac, that way we get the medic back for m&m

we cant possibly have Medics + Medivacs, Blizzard doesnt want any unit units with redundant functions, remember? :D Im afraid the medic has been taken out since many months...

Why not bring back the medic, and have a unit like the multigunner in Red Alert 2 or 3. So the medic can get in, and fly over the units and help them out.

This is one unit they should seriously bring back. It just doesn't make sense to use a dropship to heal your troops. Its to vulnerable and would get sniped to easily. The medic on the other hand wasn't out in the open and made more sense. Why would the terrans throw away the medics for the medivac. Its going to leave a lot of QQ from gamers.
