    In a German interview, Blizzard noted that the medic is currently out, replaced with a healing transport.

    They also noted that the idea may not stick. This would certainly remove the idea of the M&M combo from the game entirely, but at the same time make the Dropship a much more central unit in Terran strategy. What do you think about it?

    If healing was done while the units are inside the dropship then I'm all for it. It'd be a unique mechanic which would further distinguish the Terran.

    I loathed how you had to kill medics first because of their overpowered heal rate.

    I still prefer the medic, the medivac dropships will be destroyed as soon it gets into the defended base :(

    You play Zerg so why care? :D
    The reason I think this is a good idea is that the 'medic' would get a role similar to that of the Shield Battery - that is, heal units not engaged in battle.

    Well kuvasz, i just wanted to say that so i can kill the dropships without the terran units get healed >:D

    I like the idea to be honest, and I hope it works out. It'll give the Terran a new twist on the healing mechanic as well as give the Dropship a dual role.

    That means no more early M&M, compensating for the Zerg's poor base defense early game.

    Which means Protoss will dominate early game?

    I imagine it didn't work quite well, did it? lol! Marines are easier to kill than medics. I remember I posted about this a long time ago in this very forum. Medics will keep healing just like they heal marines, but they are harder and have more HP. Also, 1 medic remaining would still be troublesome, while every Marine you kill lessens the damage intake you're getting. It is much more profitable to kill Marines first, and worry about medics when the Marines are gone.

    But back on topic: I don't think medics should restore infestation/corruption. All the trouble to make infesting enemy units more useful would go to waste! lol And I really get how the healing-Dropship could be useful in the game, but hey, Reapers are one-way units. One shouldn't expect them to survive, just to do more damage than they cost. Medics don't suit them, and prolly wouldn't make them more used.

    I think its unnecessary, why not just have a reaper medic per say? :p

    Reaper medics that would be cool. Or just give all Medics jet packs.

    i think the reason why they're doing this is because the ghost new ability of dropping pods, they have to give the the dropship new roles, or it'll be somewhat a useless unit

    i like the idea...but....i dno..i cant see it fit in...
    and when can you get these medivac dropships? after building a barrack, factory and then starport...hmm...thats pretty late in teh game kinda...


    besides...look at the protoss..they are gna dominate in the first 5 mins of the game. i can just see the marines and the zerlings getting pounded by several zealots.

    I was wondering is a Barracks unit was going to be nerfed.
    In SC there were only four, now were looking at five:
    Marine
    Reaper
    Ghost
    Maurader
    Medic

    This would certainly nerfs Marine rushes. Then again if the Reapers D-8 charges is an earlier tech, then insted of an Academy one could build a Merc Haven, then Marine Reaper rush could be the new 'thing.'

    Could units heal inside the Dropship?
    Dropships, even in SC, were a much higher priority target than Medics, which means having them hovering over your units in battle won't be very efficient, especially since they are expensive and take longer than a Medic to build.
    I loved the medic.
    Then again this is a cool idea.
    Why not keep both like ShoGun said...
    Then again the Terran do need an AA flyer...

    Everyone is forgetting the fact that terrans have supply depots. They will easily be able to block off chokes to make sure that zealots aren't able to get in. They will be fine till the stalkers show up.

    Still, I agree that dropships are too important and expensive to be hovering around some semi-expendable marines.

    but you forgot about the zerg...they totally get owned...
    probably have to buy a queen straight after you get your spawning pool.
