How would this change my opinion that the unit is a bad idea?

Looks like it just has to hover nearby and it will auto-heal.

If it does work like that...

...Fine. I'll accept the Medivac. Plus a unit the flies and heals sounds a tad better than having to run Medics around.

I still think its sort of stupid that there's a 'healing beam' or whatever, at least the medics were a little more realistic. If there was some universal energy that could heal you why wouldn't marines carry healing packs or healing bombs with them, or have healing siege tanks, that when they shoot, little healing explosives come out and make everybody whole again. Stupid.

Actually, I sort of like the idea of healing tanks, they can shoot a stream of rainbows or something.

I prefer the Medivac. Its a lots more comfortable to use becuase it hovers and it extremely mobile unlike the medic which always gets clustered up with the other infantry units. To me its simply less micro-management.

just the science behind doesnt seem terran. i would prefer drones coming out of the medivac and healing, but not a beam. than each drone would have to be bought. but with upgrades the healing is faster..yea imo that would be a better idea that a beam of light..

the only thing I can think off that would make it a little more real/personal would some kind of robotic cord that drops from the medivac and attaches to a unit, if the unit walks off the cord just detaches reels back in to attach to another unit, this of course at fast speeds.

EDIT: though it is still something that could be attached to tanks, packs, etc.

Yeah it doesn't really look like a good idea, plus in cinematics it wouldn't look too cool neither would it make sense for like a light looking beam thing to heal. I mean TF2 made it work, but its cartoon style so it doesn't have to make sense in a way.

I just say bring back the medics, and make them able to heal by like the medivac lowering a stage with medics on them. And they either stay on the stage and heal, or they come off and heal like regular medics but they would automatically come back. ( I'm actually sure that this may have been said before.)

I'm not sure if they would have to be loaded manually, or come pre-loaded with medics but hey, its not like it unbalances or overpowers things, it just puts alittle more work into terran players which might even be slight of an underpower to me, but I think that may just be a small price to pay just for having the good old medics back.

    different "beam" would look better.

for me it seems to be a really good unit, nistead of having the hassle of moving your medics to get to the right unitthis medivac dropship can hover over to it.

im not sure a "beam" is the right thing to have since it doesnt make sense, but im not complaining if it works to heal units :D

Yeah, have the medievac with a Gatling Gun that shoots syringe with healing properties or pills. That would make much more sense XD.

I'm used to the TF2 healing beam, works great, keep it as a beam.

Übercharged Mediveac for 10 Seconds of invulnerability, Awesome!

though in the end, to me game play is more important than having realism. If they can't find a way that makes sense then **** it, keep the beam cause the idea of a hovering healer is perfect and it should not be thrown out the window cause some people don't think it looks real.

Sorry but, GAME PLAY > SENSE(realistic visuals)

I like the unit change after hearing more about it since WWI. It can fly, eliminates a medic taking a spot in it's hull, has a longer reach, and makes the dropship far more usful and thus used.

Give the medivac a sexy female voice/portrait and I'm 100% happy.

Don't think the healing beam of light is too far fetched. People have been working on such technology since before SC2's announcement.

This link is to a PDF btw.

EDIT 1: Wasn't there such a handheld device in star trek anyways? God bless science FICTION.
EDIT 2: There was. This video (2nd on page) also discusses the modern applications.

They probably won't show this in cinematic.
It they feature the unit in cinematic it will likey just fly around, or maybe someone would drag a wounded marine into the dropship.

Blizzard's cinematics are out of this world, they wouldn't let silly beams ruin them

Lol funniest comment I read all day. Seriously though, medivac dropship horrible idea. Beam healing doesnt really fit into the whole terran idea. Mainly rugged up front kind of style. Healing beam? doesnt seem like terrans would be the type to put research into that kind of technology.

i dont like the idea of a medic/dropship =\ i mean a beam of light? seems more protoss then terran. maybe it could like have an animation of some little medics comming out or somthing and healing just not a beam of light.

I like one of the 2 choices brought up in the past by other people.

    1) medics mounted into the dropship = medivac (of course no beam)
    2) medivac has drones that heal

I take it you didn't watch the videos I linked.
It's technology we are working on now.
