For a while I wondered who Matt Horner was, and where he came from. But recently, I was playing through the campaign again, and after beating the last Mar Sara mission I talked to Tychus, who asked Raynor how he got the Hyperion. Raynor responded with something like "Matt and I 'borrowed' it from Mengsk when we parted ways". That got me thinking... he must be referring to the last mission of the SC1 original terran campaign, when you assisted Raynor in destroying the ion cannon and escaping from the Son's of Korhal. I also remember at the end of the briefing of that very mission, Raynor addresses you, an "unnamed commander", and says something like "are you with me?". In my opinion, all these pieces fit together. It makes perfect sense that the unnamed commander that you played as in the original SC1 terran campaign is none other than Matt Horner. Discuss.
Blizzard said that mat was a merchant for the sons of korhal until he helped raynor steal the hyperion. While the unamed character in sc1 is an ancient confederate magistrate. I doubt that the magistrate would become a merchant after joining the sons of korhal. And in sc1 you are a high commanding officier or something n the sons of korhal, the merchant cant be a commanding officier or whatever.
Argh. I thought I was on to something. Didn't realize there was already an official story about Matt Horner. Oh well.
