Okay so i've tried using a unit-test-map-thing and got 180-supply Voidrays (the last 20 supply is for the workers and stuff)

and i got them fully upgraded (i even upgraded flux vanes wtf ?...) xD

and i found out that there was NO way for zerg to beat them (assuming that they also had a max of 180 supply)
and yes i did upgrade everything i could xD

even Hydralisks got owned OMG D:

its so wierd because Hydras do counter Voidees right? (i also tried to burrow them and unburrow under the voidrays but that was even worse)

SO there is bassicly no way for Zerg to stop a 180-supply army of fully upgraded voidrays xD
    thats not cool D:

(unless they've killed all there workers so they have a 200-supply-army.... i actually haven't tried that yet)

AND i believe it works the same way with carriers *sadface*

Focus firing with corruptors or mutas surely can do it. I believe the carriers having some awesome critical mass power. I'm not surprised hydras got owned. They are glass cannons and with that many full charged void rays going your dps would drop like a rock. But yeah try corrptors and mutas focusing firing...infact if you ran all the hydras under the rays you might be able to do it to.

It's all about the micro dude; if you had burrowed your Hydras or kited them away (in the case of Creep'd Hydras vs. NO Flux Vane'd Void Rays) then they would've lost their charge and you could continue the slaughter. Unfortunately nobody seems to know the exact time Void Rays keep their charge (I've seen estimates ranging from 3 to 8 seconds).

Of course if you're not some insane micro manager you could always throw in a different mix of units on the Zerg side. Use the Infestor's Fungal Growth to stop the Void Rays in their tracks, then use the Corruptor's Corruption ability on as many Void Rays as you can, which will effectively add 2-3 damage to the attacks of your Corruptors and Hydralisks. It may not be much individually, but with the Hydra's crazy attack rate that extra damage will add up fast.

I looked at void ray stats and found out they were 3 supply. That 180 supply void ray army is comprised of 60 void rays, with a total cost of 15000 minerals and 9000 gas, while a 180 supply hydra army is comprised of 90 hydras with a total cost of 9000 minerals and 4500 gas. I'd be surprised if the void rays didn't win.

Anyway, your testing is flawed; clearly a good zerg player will attack with his 200/200 hydra army long before a protoss could get 200/200 of void rays.

Still... 3 supply? I think it should be 4. They did that kind of nerf to the roach, so it's only fair.

sure maybe its just about micro but i still wouldn't be able to kill them even if i micro like no tomorrow...
maybe im just bad at microing.. but i agree about the corruption spell thingy ... i believe tried it with no upgrades once but it didn't change anyhing xD

actually if i remember correctly when theres No upgrades the corrupters are able to kill 180 supply voidrays...
but if theres only 50-60 supply each the voidrays would somehow win O.O

well.. i still haven't tried to do a 3 corrupter vs 2 voidrays fight yet but im pretty sure the corrupters would win ^^

when army reaches that ciritical size, there is really no point in doing fine grain microing (saving individual units) but just focus on army placement and skill usage. Dying units under huge army's focus dps usually won't make out alive 90% of the time so you'd rather have them dish out as much damage as possible before dying.

Its sad that there is really no counter against mass voidray, not to mention they are also easier to micro compare to most anti air units. The reason voidray are so powerful after critical mass is because their overal dps can actually grew or remain fairly the same over timely battle while both army suffering unit losses.

Your best bet is to just prevent such scenario from happening.

I am pretty sure that 90 corrupters would beat 60 voids.... Especially if both were fully upgraded, simply because the 90 corrupters would gain more benefit

Ya just lost to mass voids. He started cannoning up so I thought I could expand... LOL. I think I'm going to make hydras my wildcard.
