Sonic I just like him better. The underdog mascot that has become as famous as Mario, even after being developed in Mario's shadow. Sonic's games are just more fun to play, and who doesn't love a blue hedgehog?
I have Sonic 1 and 2, but I can't decide. Maybe I should choose Mario... Hard to choose, because I haven't played either for a while.
Mario, no doubt. Super Mario 64 FTW. Sonics attempts to do 3D games have been pathetic. I prefer Mario when it comes to 2D too.
I disagree GMG. I think Sonic Team has done an excellent job with their 3D sonic games. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for the Game Cube is one of my favorite games. I haven't played any recent sonic releases since I don't have the new systems, but they all look excellent graphic-wise. I was never into Mario games, except the Mario Kart series. Running around to save Peach in every game seemed too repetitive.
Robot Chicken FOR LIFE. Mario beats sonic the hedgehog hands down. I don't see whats so good about a hedgehog who can run fast. Super Sonic owns mario's fire power. Sonic doesn't just run fast, he can also curl into a ball to roll attack, bounce attack, and use homing jumps to attack nearby enemies. Also, if you play any of his games from GC or later, he can also swing on bars and vines, which is better and more fun than swinging down a flag pole. EDIT: nice picture, lol.

Ack, Sonic is losing?!?! How can this be? I have never been a huge fan of Mario games, but maybe I'll like them better after playing the new Paper Mario game for the Wii that I got for x-mas. It does look cool that you can change from 2-D to 3-D view, add more dimension to the game.

^*gasp* It is a non-believer! So you're saying that running around as a heavy, Italian guy is more fun than speeding through stages as a blue ball? How much better are the 3-D games compared to the 2-D ones? The 2-D stage clearing games are just way too repetative for me. I still say that Super Sonic is much more powerful than anything Mario can do.
