gasp! that is not an apple! Those are nuts from the Buckeye tree. The entire state of Ohio boos at you! on topic: lol it looks fuuny but I like it. Sadly, I can tell what it is, even if it is made of nuts. I think that Marine is nutty for putting down his gun...haha..ok bad puns are over.
O.K. time for a lesson in the make up of a buckeye. First, theres the nut itself. Its the smooth, almost shiny brown things that make up the legs and body. If you cut a nut in half you get a white inside. Then theres the shell, this is what the helmet and shoulders are made of. Normally the shells are covered in prickly spines, these appear to be shaved off in the sculpture above, causing it to be multicolored from the different layers. If you take the nut out of the shell you get a hollow sphere. This would make perfect shoulder pads or helmet in this case...
