Marauder, thor drop ship

  1. So I have been going marauders and thor now every time I play human. Once you get the missle upgrade muraders beast early game which allows a quick tech up to thor. Then all you need to do is get stim and dropship and you can either drop a quick base kill in or use maruders to cover your thors in a frontal assualt. As long as you keep lings and lots away from the thors I have yet to lose with this strat.

    Thoughts?

You need some light support, a large army of zerglings, immortals, or even a billion marines with medvac support would rip up your army.

Also tanks and marauders will destroy you every time. Better to go marines marauders tanks unless you know they have significant air.

Thors are usually only good on Twilight Fortress in my own experience. But yeah this strategy does work somewhat, I've landed some death blows on an enemy by just bringing one or two Thors to support my drop army. You run into problems when they have anti air or when they just bypass your support and go for your Thors.

Thors are shaping up to be the go to AA unit for Terran.

Although a Marauder/Thor army can take down bases and smaller forces very quickly, any mass small unit will tear through you.

If your opponent is going air at all you will want some Thors, which you also use to assault bases/implement into your army. If you can eventually upgrade to 250mm Strike, use it against Collosi, or any other large unit that can quickly tear through you.

The 250 mm strike isn't an upgrade btw, every Thor can do it without any sort of upgrade. Thors aren't terribly conventional to me unless I go all for an all ground force since marines aren't the greatest AA

I wasn't aware the strike was baseline, I just assumed such a powerful ability would be an upgrade for a non-caster unit.

But yeah, I wouldn't recommend Thors unless your opponent is either going heavy air, or threatening to. I was merely suggesting alternate uses for them when they aren't defending against air, or if your opponent switches away from air.

I actually had some guy drop four Thors in my main, wrecked all up workers, killed my Barracks, and was out before I could respond. He proceeded to do this to every expansion I had.

Not exactly conventional, but it was pretty funny to watch. They also look pretty weird when on the Medivac.

Marines, zealots, zerglings, and immortals will tear right through you which is why I go marines thors and tanks. I get just enough marines to handle air with the help of the thor's aoe javalin missiles while my siege tanks fire in the back handling any ranged assault unit. Usually I have a starport in the back ready to pump out vikings if brood lords come out since that's probably the number 1 counter to the trio >.<.

I have used this tactic too in 2v2, I often do it during a diversion when a battle is going on.
I fly in snipe it pack up and get the next.
This really throws players off balance.
