"im going to edit your map, just to piss on you"

there are map protection programs available at www.creepcolony.com under downloads, but I am totally against map protection. it limits the creativity and improvability of a map.

Most people that say they will change somebody's map are too lazy to actually do it. Also, if they are insulting you, then they probably didn't like your map, which means they wouldn't actually want something they hate under their name. Or, they will change most of the map itself, and then it won't even matter, because he still wouldn't have stolen your actual map.

Just distribute your map now and they won't be able to take credit. Put it on some websites (like StarCraft.org) and then you can just point to your submission date.

You can also then demand credit for any adjustments people make to your map and if they disobey them you can just, again, point to your submission date. :D

it enables you to protect your hard work from some @-hole who'll just edit it and take credit for your work

VERY rarely is a map stolen. And VERY often map triggers are used to educate and create examples. I'd be willing to trade the few maps being stolen for the many new map-makers learning how to create even better maps.

You could use Starforge to save the map so that it is secure from others who want to edit it.

Im so on favor of map protection.
I mean, they can be stolen anyways, but no one takes THAT much trouble to steal a map everyone knows who did it.
If you want to leanr you just get an unprotection software, which sucks.
Anyways, if someone ever asks me how to do a trigger, I will happily tell em, Idc

IF you ever do make a map protected, keep an unprotected version for yourself and for anybody who asks to see it. I'm fairly certain you can have their computer searched if a stupid copy comes out because of intellectual property laws... but I'm not sure.

For a map protection program, see iMaGiNe.'s list that is stickied.

EDIT: GOD****IT! I FORGOT I WAS SAVING MY 666TH POST FOR SOME ARTICLE OR MY MAP RELEASE! T.T! ...this was my 666th post.
