im wondering if they could do a converter for original starcraft maps to reformat them into starcraft 2 map format. they already stated that they will have the original starcraft units on the sc2 editor so if we could just have a lil converter handy then we would immediatley have a quick boom of starcraft custom maps, then they can be later edited for updates of course but say you wanted to play your favorite map, you just convert it, change a few things and wa-lah you have a new sweet map for sc2.
I am betting any SC1 maps will just be meticulously reconstructed by loyal fans who really liked them
I am sure someone will come up with a program that does some sort of conversion. Heck, SCMDraft was supposed to convert WarCraft II maps to StarCraft maps. Though the port would not be as accurate as we would like because there will be many new things to consider such as terrain elevation, actual 3D elements, changed units, etc. etc. BirdofPrey is right, I am sure die-hards will reconstruct an SC map or make a spin-off of one.
I don't know if there will be the same types of terrains.. Maybe it would be easier to reedit your maps in the SC2 editor. (I think I'll also use this at some of my maps..)
