Recently I purchased a new version of Starcraft and Broodwar. (my old copy was lost, damaged, a friend had it, i duno.) Anyway, I installed it...and it works fine but theres no Map Editor. There is an icon, but its only for PC. When I run the game and get toe the classic into screen where my options are: Single Player, Multi Player Campaign Editor or Quit even if i click campaign editor its says it could not open the editor becasue an unknown error occurred. not only does this mean I cannot run the editor, which is problem enough, my computer thinks that any new maps I downlaod are movie files and I therefor can't play them. The starcraft disc I'm useing is a hybrid so it should work. Any help would be so very much appreciated. Thanks Chax
the instructions the dreaded instructions the evil instructions the bad instructions the demented instructions the other wise pretty helpful instructions
There have been problems running StarCraft and StarEdit on Mac OS X using the classic environment. I suggest that you uninstall your StarCraft application and then have a look over at http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21149 to be able to install StarCraft and Brood War natively on OS X. Hope this helps!
ImaGiNe: Thanks. I tried it but I still get the same error message. I've installed the patch and done what theyve told me. longlivefenix: When can i download one?
when? any time where? anywhere you find on google what? scmDraft2 or starcraft X-tra editer (i just got that recently so dont take my opinion)
You might want to take a gander at our very own Map tools and utilities topic located here. I recommend that you download StarFire Edit for Mac OS X. It is roughly the equivalent of StarCraft X-Tra Editor.
Wait a minute! I forgot to ask you the most essential bit to your problem... Is this an Intel-based Mac you are trying to run StarCraft on?
I have similar problems on my Intel machine. My solution was to use a program called "SheepShaver" to run OS 9 in a window, and run StarEdit in that. It took a lot of trial and error, but I eventually got the system running. You would need a copy of OS 9 to do this, though... Here's a demonstration of how to get SheepShaver up and running: http://theappleblog.com/2006/07/01/classic-on-intel-macs-courtesy-of-sheepshaver/ If you have any questions, send me a message.
