    hey,

having a few problems as i am behind a very strict university firewall which will kill my internet if i access any kind of BT technology, and i cant seem to find any patch mirrors for a uk version of the patch, so my mac version cant update. I have seen the FAQ but you only have the US data on there.

    Any solutions? :(

The US patch version is out, but that didnt work.

    Thanks for any help.

If the firewall prevents you from getting the patch, your in trouble. If you are afraid to run the updater because of the enforcement, well, the firewall should stop the standard bittorrent ports but still allow you to patch via port 80.

If they will ban you for simply attempting to access bittorent ports, this is what I would do (and a policy like that is simply absurd). I would go to your university IT department and simply be blunt with them "I have StarCraft 2, it uses bittorrent to patch. I can disable the torrenting, but I am afraid you will ban be from the network be accessing the ports, before I have the opportunity to disable the torrent." Make sure that you clearly understand the policy by talking it over with the people who enforce it.

I could understand if they would ban you from the network for circumventing the firewall, but for simply trying to access ports... its a ridiculous and lazy policy if that is truly how it works. I somehow doubt that is the actual policy, but your wording insist that it is.

I would love to have a complete set of Mac mirrors, but without a Mac I am unable to keep the patch sites up myself. The US site is mirrored by a friend of mine with plays StarCraft 2 on a Mac, but he simply doesn't have the time to download the UK client (like I have for the PC) to keep up a UK mirror. I still don't have any kind of coverage for enSG clients.

If the computer is a portable, take it to a local place like McDonald's and update there. I am assuming it isn't a portable though. You may have to look into using a service like wowtunnels to bypass the firewall just to play/patch the game.

    ello me again

Tried to configure the blizzard downloader, and ive got the timing down so it doesnt take away my internet for an hour, (took me 2 tries!) however the mac downloader has no options to turn off the peer to peer option like the Windows version has.

    Any idea? :(

    ok...

so for experimental sake, i downloaded the blizzard downloader for the whole mac game and there and behold an option to disable peer to peer, however through the normal sc2 updater there is no option what so ever to turn anything on or off.

    buggered? ;(

Is your Mac a desktop or a laptop? I'm assuming its a desktop because you could just take a laptop to some McD's. I think even if you did get the game patched, you prob can't play it.

If its a desktop, you might just have to pack it up and take it somewhere. I can't believe that your IT department is so anal.

heh aye, they're quite ridic here.

I can play warcraft on my mates laptop here, so its just the whole patching issue. I just wish someone had the patch data so i could just whack it into the directory, as i did the same to my mates sc2 on windows.

The thing is, the patch data for Mac INCLUDES the data for Windows+additional Mac data.. but I am unsure how much of the PC data is included while patching the Mac client.

yeh, i thought about just shoving the data from a friend of mines pc there and seeing what happens, but i dont think it would be that simple.

Nevermind i'll just have to drag the bugger to a wi fi spot and update it there whenever a patch comes out

    thanks for your time mate

Yeah, wish I could be more help.

Maybe some day I'll have a Mac of my own to keep these files updated. XD
