Has anyone else tried the Lost Viking arcade game in the Cantina? Maybe it's because I'm really uncomfortable with using the arrow keys for movement, but I haven't been able to get passed the first boss yet after 5 tries at it. This game would be better if I was given the option to use the mouse for movement, as I hate using arrow keys for these kinds of games.
I've gotten to 2nd level. Yeah, it's a hard game. It's similar to old top-down shooters which... were hard in the arcade too.
I'm steering clear of it since I don't want to kill my space bar so early. Looks and plays nice though, although the plasma(?) powerup is utterly useless and is merely a trap.
Put this is the spoilers section. This is something I would have liked to know existed while I was playing the campaign. Not as a spoiler in a non-spoiler part of the forum. And the plasma powerup is not a trap. It sacrifices wide area damage for way more straight line damage. Kind of like the red vs the blue power ups in the old shooter radien. And is the title of this little mini game a pun of the old Blizzard game "The Lost Vikings?"
Yes, it is a pun i think. As i remember, it starts out with something like "You need to get this viking home" and that were also the premise of The Lost Vikings.
I dug out my old gamepad and got something like 1,150,000 points. Nice and fun game, although it becomes a bit repetitive and should maybe get harder with more noticeable changes like the laser thing during the Terran section. Some walls would be nice here and there, as well as other (destructible?) obstacles. I have yet to find my score by not having to start it though. Does anyone know a way? I would've thought that the achievement kept track of it similar to how it follows your progress with multi-item ones.
Kind of easy. Few tricks help to get the achievements for it: 1) Pressing space faster makes you shoot faster. 2) You can upgrade your primary weapon by getting a powerup of the same type. So if your weapon is missiles, getting a missile powerup will upgrade it, while if you have the plasma shot, then getting a plasma powerup will upgrade it. 3) Drone powerups circle around you and shoot homing missiles at enemies, which are amazing. They also can block enemy shots (but are destroyed in the process) so you don't die from a direct hit. However you can only have two at a time. 4) If your weapons and drones are maxed out, only pick up powerups that have changed into bombs, since all other powerups are useless. 5) Don't shoot too fast on the zerg levels! If you kill too many scourge at the same time, the screen will be filled with their green missiles and you will die.
