    Little info about me.

I was born in Sweden 1981.

I have a degree of Computer Science from local Universety. I work as a programmer where I develop web based applications.

This session I played chess in swedish superettan (super division1). However, some of my teamamtes did not have my good stats so we will play in regular division 1 next session.

I still play Starcraft sometimes, but mostly agianst computer and to relax from work.
I like to watch when the pro gamers play it, especiallly when commented. My favorite race in SC 1 is Terran and I will probely play Terran in SC 2 when I play multiplay.

I also play lots of chess at the internet and follow the chess world elite via live broadcasts.

I will note make many posts here do to lack of time.

Hey, you remind me of myself - Welcome.

Im only 14 though.. (but im from Denmark and I play chess, I just got my elo, its around 1950). But I follow the pro scene in both Starcraft and especially chess deeply, which player do you like the most in both? For me its Savior and Ivanchuk, both having bad nerves and interesting play.

Not to make fun of chess, -I also like it, but not as much as you two- but Ivanchuck sounds like a sc player nickname. -and you quoted it yourself, sc is like chess- :)

Thanks! Those are really nice links. One strange thing though, the eurogamer site already claims to sell starcraft 2 -not even an episode name- for about 30 pounds. I have a feeling that site is probably not very reliable...

Have you seen the "my briliant brain" documentary on national geographic? It was about a woman who was trained from childhood to be a top chess player. She has beaten just about any pro player out there by now. What I want to say, you can learn to be good at something. Giving up is denying that you are a human, but you can always stop trying... Hmm, I just confused myself. Interesting, I would not be a very good player at chess tournaments.

Shes called Judit Polgar, and her two sisters were trained too. And especially those 3 show that natural
talent matters too, because her elder sisters became strong players too, but not ULTRA MEGA IMBA STRONG (but a top woman player). profiles of the 3:

    Judit Polgar:

    Zsófia Polgár:

    Zsuzsa Polgar:

here you can see Judit beating Kasparov, who is recognized as the best chess player ever (a lot of Americans still think Fischer was but what ever): http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1254283

Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm too lazy to learn something like that? ;p
I was pretty good at coutering moves in short term and maybe planning for 2-3 moves ahead, but I never had ready anything beyond that (hence I always played defensively)

Foresight like that would be a tough thing to learn, but damn, would it be usefull

Why would it not be worth it? You still have had fun with it if you would someday decide to quit playing. And if people who play an WOW for hundreds of hours dicide to quit - or start over at WOW2 someday-, do you think they will say: well, that was definitely not worth my time! -unless they came from some rehab clinic, then they have to say that-

I suck at chess, sadly I can't get better as I has no one to spar against. No practice = no make perfect.

Anywhoo, welcome to our forums. Do be careful around some of our more rabid members.
