I made this post to ask your opinion about what army composision you have to go against a maxed protoss army supply as a zerg. My friend always uses a mix of zealots , stalkers ,a few sentries , some colossus and many high templars with storm. I know that as a zerg i must not let a protoss player reach that point but if that happens , is the maxed protoss army unbetable ?
Really bad... I still haven't found any unit composition that I feel is really strong against a roach/hydra/broodlord composition...
Roach/hydra/broodlord/cracklings/ultras/3corruptors/7-8 mutas/1drone/infestors/1overseertomakechangelingrealfastandscouthisbase/overlord+nydusworm/fewbanelings EDIT: Just found out that what i said was retarded. Thus, i second stirlitz. HOWEVER. i myself wud want a few ultras and crackligns in there.
just speedlings, you don't need the attack speed upgrade, especially if your main army is roach/hydra which means you'll go for ranged attacks instead of melee...
Is it unbeatable? No. Is it extremely hard to beat? Of course. A well mixed 200 supply protoss army is supposed to beat a 200 supply zerg army. With this kind of army diversity, how you engage might matter more than what you engage with. If you just "a" move at the front of their army, you're dead. With zealots and stalkers tanking at the front, those colossi and hts will pwn you in a matter of seconds. I would try to snipe those colossi and hts somehow if/when they expose themselves, probably with speedlings or air units. A couple of ultras or broodlords can also do wonders when you engage. But, in the end, you shouldn't rely on your 200 army beating his 200 army........because, well, that's not how you play zerg (as you said, you shouldn't have let it reach that point in the first place). Use your super fast production to your advantage. Have all of your hatcheries on a number. After your army dies to the protoss army, spam more army until you run out of resources or larvae immediately. The protoss army should be severely weakened. With your new army, you can often kill the protoss army now.
I often go for a mix of hydralisks and ultralisks in the end-game ^^ I just feel like ultralisks beat every ground-unit protoss has except immortals xD... (and maybe zealots) and now when the voidrays has been nerfed against armour atleast... zerg might have a better chance of survival :3
Part of this post is about addressing how you're getting to your late game, but your unit composition should go something like mass roaches w burrow into hydras around your third base. Corruptors when you see colossus- but not too many, then into brood lords/roaches. Be wary of Immortals. Try to go for this roach build when you're playing unless he goes four gate or a forge fast expand. 14 pool 16 hatch ~18-21 gas. first 100 gas ling speed next 100 gas lair. During lair put roach warren down and go for second gas along with an evo chamber, pumping drones. Once lair is completed immediately get burrow and roach speed. Once you start massing roaches get your 3rd gas. From there follow where the game is going. There's also ling/muta or ling/hydra drop. I think roaches are some of the strongest though. If you see him going four gate still keep ur natty but put down 3-5 spines with mass speedlings, then transition back into roaches or w/e you feel like. Good luck, sorry this is a little sloppy but hopefully it helps somebody.
Properly microed and upgraded cracklings + hydras on creep can own pretty much anything protoss has to throw at you. If they make good use of HTs mix in some mutas to pick them off and if they go colusi, mix in curruptors.. What zerg players really have to fear vs protoss is someone that has even remotely good forcefield micro/placements. Its often overlooked or forgotten about because of the extra micro involved but bangelings drops on mineral lines can easily win a game here and there.\ Edit: Also don't forget to cast the acid spells from the curruptors onto the colusi or other units. If they turtle like a biotch just nydus worm there butts..
