Ok, so I understand that LAN isn't built into Starcraft 2.. but that just means that everyone has to log into Battle.net, right? So you can still hook up several computers and all connect to Battle.net fromt he same router, right?

If so... has anyone tried it yet to see about latency issues?

    Thanks.

No there is no LAN game setup as there was in SC1 and running multiple computers through one DSL or Cable Modem line isn't a good idea either. This sucks because we use to have some cool matches in the office back in the day with SC1. When you work with a bunch of IT people you have plenty of gamers around ;)

This is because unless you have a block of static IP's from your provider all of the computers or devices that run through your modem are making use of 1 dynamic IP address with NAT for getting information back from the Internet. The more devices that have to communicate the more work you put on that IP and the more chances you have for lag and dropped packets.

On the other hand you can get a block of 4 or 8 IP addresses assigned to you from your provider and have a decent download rate you can assign static IPs to your computers and then you can have 4 of them running through the connection without the effect of network address translation. There will be a charge for this from the provider but it shouldn't be too much.

    Wow..

Ok, that makes sense now. This is a huge serving of bummer sauce. The most fun I ever had with gaming was when we would hook up 6-7 PCs and all play SC1 in the same room.

I am now somewhat convinced that Blizzard is trying to systematically make us all anti-social zombies who sit in a room alone and have unfulfilling virtual interactions with other zombies via Battle.net.

I'm against piracy, especially with a game like Starcraft 2. I'm happy to pay for the game (I bought it the first day it came out). But with this LAN situation.. I say hack the son of a *****. Somebody somewhere will crack it and add LAN support if Blizzard doesn't.

I feel sort of...what's the word... bamboozled.
