Just got game for christmas, Can my computer(s) handle it?

Hello. I'm a huge SC1 fan and I just got a copy of the game for christmas but it won't run smoothly on my laptop at all. Im posting my specs here so you can see what I'm working with. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

RAM - 2GB
Video Card - Nvidia GeForce Go 6100 (I know it sucks)
Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core 1.70 Ghz (also sucks, i know)
I don't think the game cares about any of the other specs at all. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. Then again, I may just be totally unable to run the game on my computer at all. If that is possible, what are my solutions? I'm looking for something relatively cheap. Is it possible to upgrade the video card to make the game playable? Upgrade the processor? Or should I just get a new computer if I am to have any hope at all of playing this. Thanks again for your time.

Not that you wont be able to upgrade; but everything will need to be reconfigured i think, etc. probably not worth it.
