I woke up this morning after traveling away from home to train up my skills for SC2 final coming out in one week. Apparently the server is ofline.

Does anyone have any more information? Google doesn't, I've spent about an hour trying to find out news about this but its not even posted on the official SC2 forums.

    It's because the beta ended.

You all must be kidding. There are aprox. thousands of threads here and on different other SC2-Forums about "Servers down" "When will they fix it" etc.

It simply can't be that everyone knew weeks before the start of phase 2 when it would start, but noone kept an eye on when it will end again?! Its not as if bliz told us yesterday "oh, and by the way, beta will end tomorrow".....

Yeah, I just found out from another player that the SC2 servers are (of course as we all should have known) down permanently for Beta, and the final will be released Jul 27th and release keys will work with the server.

Thanks guys for the games on Beta.

it's because they said the beta would end yesterday, not today, so it was kinda confusing

Should we delete our Starcraft beta 2 files from out computers, now that it's done forever, or is there a point in keeping the beta even after the game is released?

There is no point in keeping the beta files anymore. Maybe you'll still be able to watch your replays. But the Client is, more or less, worthless. The only thing i can think of a way to use the client furthermore would be installing additional (semi-illegal) AddOns allowing you to play offline against AI......but i don't think you'll be able to play online with your client again (no more patching). So you can de-install it and wait for next week now.....

Anyone any idea what to do in the meantime???

In years to come they may be worth something. You should hold onto them. :D

Keep in mind that once you uninstall it, you cannot install it and update it until someone cracks it which would be never. Essentially, your replays are useless.

That being said, Blizzard recommended that everyone uninstall the beta client before installing the retail client. That's probably just being overly cautious though.

Ok I'm just going to uninstall the whole beta clean using the Control Panel and deleting the folder.
