I bought SC2 on a whim since I loved the first. Unfortunately I soon found out my laptop is in no condition to run it smoothly. I tried putting it on the lowest settings and it ran alright for awhile, however after getting to the 3rd mission (Zero Hour)..well, lets just say it was the longest 20 minutes of my life. lol it ran alright until there was more than 30 units going at it and it slowed down more and more to the point of unplayability. This is hugely disappointing as I hoping that at least at the lowest settings I could play it.. My horrible set up is Windows Vista 32bit AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00 GHz NVIDIA GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M 3 GB RAM as far as I know matters anyway. So do guys think there could be anyway to run SC2 decently on the lowest settings with this, or am I just screwed until I pay up for a better rig?
Ooooooo 630M. I dunno man that's a stretch. The 7150M is an integrated graphics chip meaning your computer doesn't actually HAVE a video card. I'd actually be surprised if it ran at all.
Aw dang. It runs for a good minute or two, but it gets pretty bad after theres a good amount of units on screen. I guess since I remember my video card being 7150 I figured it was better than the required 6600 or so. Well thats disappointing, guess I finally have SC2, now I just need a computer to play it. lol oh well, thanks for the info
What video driver are you using? If you don't know then you have a few options: 1st - Try using nVidia's official laptop video driver package 2nd - Use these laptopvideo2go drivers. They are basicly the stock drivers with additional INF's to support laptops. If your laptop isn't supported, send them your inf and they will add it.
I tried that laptop video2go thing and after installing (which im guessing means it supported mine) i couldve sworn it was working since a 1on1 match with AI ran pretty smoothlly, but before i jumped for joy, i tried playing that mission again..and results are pretty similiar.. Is there really no way my laptop can run it, I ve heard of people running it on less, but is my video card really that shoddy? edit:I mean even can you run it? says I meet the minimum requirements. So im just wondering if something else is going on or is cayourunit tripppin? lol
I think your ram is screwed remember,Windows Vista uses 2 GB ram,so you really only have 1 gig left just my two cents though
Yes, your video is really THAT shoddy. The minimum requirment is a GeForce 6600, but a GeForce 7150 is NOT better just because it has a higher number (I think you need at least a 7400 to be equil to the 6600??). Its no wonder nVidia has switched to its current scheme of numbers (100 series and above), as it is a more accurate gauge. The missions seem to be way more polygon intensive, since it has all the details in its maps, vs the multiplayer maps that have less detail.
lol well idk, common sense would lead you to think otherwise ya know. Damn I wish I played the demo first to check it out, oh well, not much I can do. Except play 1on1 matches with the AI and hope the battles dont get too intense lol. Thanks, I just wish there was some way I could upgrade my laptops video card without, you know, buying another laptop
Hey everyone I'm a newb to this forum but I used to lovvvve starcaft back in the day so i was hoping you all could help me out. I want to know if My laptop will be able to run starcaft 2. Here are the specs: Windows 7 64 bit 2.26 GHz core i3 dual core processor 4 gigs of RAM Intel HD Graphics Am i in luck?? Thanks in advance for the help!
No Intel card will run this game well. Intel has no clue what it means to make a "3D Graphics card." They are just a cheap way for Intel to make money. If you post your laptop make and model, I might be able to look it up and see if it able to get a graphics card upgrade.
Damn that really chaps me. Umm as for make and model I know it's an HP G62t. Is there anything else you need to know?
Acording to HP's website, there is an option for a 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5430 Graphics [HDMI, VGA] . Perhaps you can contact HP and see if you can have your laptop upgraded. That will certainly be better then the built in Intel crap you currently have. Who knows, maybe you can even get a better upgrade then that!
Hmm i guess I'll have to try that. I'll give them a call. Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it!
Actually, the one on Clarkdales work well enough (around the same level as GeForce 9300 and probably 6600GT). At 1280x720 with everything on low, I was getting around 40-60 FPS on my Core i3-530.
I was just wondering how i can optimize my SC2 performance, the second is a diffrent question, but how can i increase the memory used by my RAM card? Pardon me for not knowing ANYTHING, tho i don't specialize in computers, I don't even know the damn basics. Specs below: Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7100) Processor: Pentium (R) Dual Core CPU T4200 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM, 2305MB used, 3572 available Video Card (?): Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
My horrible set up is Windows Vista 32bit AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00 GHz NVIDIA GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M 3 GB RAM ^----- I had this exact set up, i deleted my OS to replace it with: Windows 7 64bit AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 2.00GHz NVIDIA GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M 3.75 GB RAM and it still runs like ****. So don't waste ur money upgrading, its a loss of time and money... just get a new computer, i will have to once i get the money... back.. again..
I wish people would specify laptop or desktop... That would help alot. For a configuration like that, I would install 64-bit Windows 7, which won't cost you a dime (just enter your 32-bit key and install with a 64-bit disc). Once again, without knowing the machines make and model, its hard to look up and see what upgrades are available.
