Joneagle_X, a moderator here that have played the game, says the opposite: The Siege Tank in SC2 is stronger and more useful that the one in SC1.
The videos you're refering to are probably displaying other units, and we all know that the new units always win. :D
For instance, all we saw when the Zergs were released was Zerg units pwning everything.

i like the idea that they cant fire while moving, this will stop people from running and still killing your units

You mean like how I would retreat, click to attack, then click the map? Doing so, I could fire without fully stopping. It was good for zeals without speed.

Yet, I suck with terran, I defend way to much and can never get my force to do an effective attack.

The new siege tank is actually better. Though I'm not sure if my source is accurate, but the new siege tank deals 50 damage against light units when in siege mode, and deals 100 damage against armored units. And I believe that the new siege tank is now useful even in tank mode.

The Crucio Siege tank has nothing wrong with it right now, except I don't like the design that much...

The Siege Mode design is fine, and I think the Assault Mode's cannon could be redone to make it look better.
