Fellow fans that attended Irvine for the Blizzard release of the Zerg played and tested the game many, many times.

Very nice <insert what they done here>. It was quite insightful, I recommend all of you read it.

Looks like Blizzard has a long way to go on getting Protoss colours right. From when a simple thing like unit colour messed up gameplay and strategy, it has to be changed.

Zerglings would seem to be a better base defense than constantly reviving dead Queens. But it is not good that something so simple like a Zergling is imbalanced.

Mutalisks seem very different from the original from my point of view also. I really do hope that you can effectivly Mutalisk stack when the game is done.
Hopefully in a similar way in Sc1, were you could select 11 Mutalisks and 1 Larva making them stack perfectly.
They also seem less click respondent as if you was playing with your network settings on that high latency option where it improves performance but increases response time.
Mutalisks don't seem as microble as before.

Sounds pretty imbalanced to me when Zerg can't defense their own base effectivly. IIt kinda forces players to only play aggressivly while keeping the pressure on them. And without the option to differentiate, the Zerg become pretty linear.

    Thank you Seradin!
First game I played was a PvZ against semioldguy on a two-player ashworld map. The nat was close, guarded by a choke, with a faraway elevated multi and a closer island multi for each player.[
I like this. Seems like they have the same "base-layout" and expo-layout as in SC1!

I FE’d, but my timing was a bit off – not only do you start with six probes and 10 total supply, but probes mine 6 minerals at a time, which alters build timings somewhat. This trend – ‘normal’ SC1 builds not really working out cleanly in SC2 – was expected, but threw me off a bit.
Yeah, someone FE´d! I think they should stick to the 4 probe 8 minerals. Why should the amount gathered by probes/scv´s/drones change in 4 years? Thats not because I dont want a SC1.5, but because you will need more workers now, or they gather faster. But why should they gather faster then in SC1, when only 4 years have pasted?

Of course knowing exactly what was going to happen I got an early queen and set up enough static defense along with some Zerglings to hold off the first assault. The next wave did a little more damage, but I held that off as well and had teched to Roaches myself (in retrospect, had I gone straight to Hydralisks, which are Lair tech, I would have likely demolished any of the next attacks). The third wave of Roach/Ling was just too much for me to handle. I lost my queen and could not recover as more reinforcements came in. It seemed like a solid strategy. I liked it.
Seems like Starcraft 2 will have a lot more strategies, and its nice to hear that Roaches are usefull, at least in ZvZ.

A teamplay 3v3 in which I massacre all three opponents with mutaling and some assistance from semioldguy. Zerglings are incredibly strong – 100/100 for speed upgrade which also gives you +1/+1 on all your lings = imbalanced. Mutalisks are a trip to control [frankly, cannot be done the same way] but I just made 2 groups [well, 24. They fit on one key] of them and attack-moved with 40 or so lings to clean people up. I didn’t really learn much from this game, except that ling upgrades are quite strong.
Upgrades playing a huge part of the game, THATS GREAT. Especially with the new Zerg system, giving the player even more control/choices. Togehter with the new strategies thats probaly going to be su much fun! I also hope that you will be able to stack, and make hit and run attacks!

    Conclusion:
THIS IS GREAT! Blizzard is doing a really good job, and many of my worries are gone! There are still some minor things to fix, but Im sure Blizzard will do it!
