I don't know why this is enabled, but it seems kinda hack-sensitive.
When you make a comment in someone's profile, which I just tested out in ijffdrie's profile, a small link named "IP" appears next to the comment.

    [edit]
The button also seems to appear in Social Group comments.
    [/edit]

I think this should be removed, since it even seems to show the host and server you are using. That can't be good for the forum security, can it?

If this isn't as dangerous as I think it is, then feel free to delete this thread if you are a mod, instead of locking it. I don't want to cause chaos throughout the forums. ;)

That's strange, you should see a small button next to every comment in a person's profile that's named "IP".

Strange, I can see them. I will post some pictures for you. It's possible that you can only see it in your own profile when somebody has left you a message.

    [edit]
Sorry for the low quality, but I don't want to upload high-res pictures for this stuff, because it uses up to much of my bandwidth on photobucket. ;)

Forsaken, on this vB you are considered a mod because you're the section mod for the fact file.

That's probably why you can see that function... I'll look into it, though.

I see. I didn't even knew that the board still existed. Why is it still hidden to me then? I was still working on it when the admin decided to hide it again, but I couldn't see it anymore, too. I thought the whole thing had been shut down after that.

    [of topic]
Can it perhaps be restored again to me, so that I can continue to work on it? I have made some excellent lists for the Starcraft 2 section, which are almost complete, but it would be better if I can implement them in the Fact file. (I will hide the Starcraft 1 part again, since it's not done, but it would be cool to have a nice compendium, instead of having dozens of separate topics everywhere, as we have now.)
    [/of topic]

Anyway, thanks for the response. ^^

You should've been sensible enough to contact a mod or the admin in a PM, rather than bringing attention to it by starting a new thread and posting pictures of it :p

Replies often come quicker when you post it, the mods get dozens of reports and stuff like that flooding their inbox, so posting a problem is better most of the time. It also prevents that multiple people contact the staff about the problem, because everybody knows that the problem is already reported.

The IP picture is removed from the site and from my photobucket account. I guess it wasn't smart of me to report this as a security risk and then accidentally exploit it myself. Thanks to LordKerwyn for removing it before I thought of that. (and my apologies to Meee, of course)

Erm, you barely know the guy. Kuvasz can say whatever he likes about me, because he is a good person and he is just being reasonable. Also, don't you understand the meaning of a simple :p emoticon?

Please don't judge other people on these forums, especially when the person isn't even talking to you. Leave that to those people and/or the mods. Anyways, welcome to the forums. Have a good time ;)

He probably is, since he's spamming everywhere.

Speaking of IP addresses... What do you do with users which have non static (I can't remember the name of them) IP address?
How can you find out if they have multiple accounts?

Dynamic is the word you are looking for

Even with dynamic IPs each user is usually stuck in a certain range of IPs so you will usually come up with an IP multiple times. If both users get the same range of IPs then something is up.

Also please drop the Benoit thing its not your problem

We are all affected by spam BoP. Anyway, I will stop talking about it since he already seems to be pretty close to a ban at the moment.

    Back on topic:
I thought you could choose to stick to a certain address? What is the use of having an address that changes all the time? Won't that cause serious problems with using Torrent clients and playing games online? I don't get it? :(

Funny It has that post listed as deleted by you.

I am not saying its your fault but you were involved in an arguement over Benoit and Ackbar being the same person now you are asking if they can tell that. Odd coincidence wouldn't you say?

I was mereley advising you not to continue on with it.

No because when you connect to the servers and other computers it is on a per session basis so you IP is sent each time you connect anyway so it doesn't matter what IP you are using.
