Interview with Jtv Invite winner Socke

We sat down with Socke after he won the Justin.tv Invitational #2 to hear his thoughts on the tournament and get some ideas as to what was going through his mind as he ravaged the competition.

When you first signed on to play Friday after seeing the final player list, how did you feel? Did you think you would do as well as you did?

Since i only have access to a 4:3 monitor at the moment and I didn’t train a lot for the last couple of days I didn’t really see myself winning the tournament. The first thing I did was check where Kas was in the bracket, and I was glad to see him pretty far away from me.

As a follow up to the previous question, what about Kas made you worry about his position in the bracket?

That he seems pretty much invincible in Terran vs Protoss. At least when he plays on the European server.

What was your toughest matchup of the tournament?

I lost the first maps against cloud and BratOk, and the matches could have gone either way.

You managed to stay in the Winner’s bracket the entire tournament, did it help your play knowing that you were never in danger of being knocked out of the tournament?

One can definitely play a bit more relaxed having that in the back of their mind, but I don’t think playing in the loser’s bracket would have been very different. Aside from that, I don’t think I played too well throughout the tournament and was even a bit lucky at times
