Alright, here's the situation: When I click the Internet Explorer icon the window opens, but stops responding after that. Even after 10 minutes of waiting, the window is stuck trying to begin loading my homepage, and I have to ctrl+alt+del to end it. My connection isn't a problem, because I managed to get onto AIM just fine; as a matter of fact it was the automatic opening of the AIM homepage upon sign-in that let me get this far. but clicking I.E. on it's own still yields the same results. I've done everything from ending all other running programs, running virus scans (came up clean), restarting my computer, etc. Nothing helps. Any suggestions?
I'd say that was a fairly useful suggestion. Not the whole 'FF>IE' thing, but that if you're having problems with one browser, be it FF, IE, Chrome, whatever, try a different one.
Got Firefox...it's working like a charm. Can't imagine why IE is acting up like that though. In addition, when I managed to get on IE, it would sort of time out in that it would always say "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." before ten minutes went by.
I have tried many of the browsers, and I have to say Portable FF is much better than IE (and you can have a whole lot of plugins). However, I am now switching to Chromium v4 (portable google chrome) because it consumes less memory, and each tab is a different process. And the screen is cleaner too, your window is maximized in term of space There are only 2 plugins for the moment, but it's just the beginning. But at this stage already, Im pretty much in love ^^ GOOGLE FTW !!!
Tried Opera 10 yet? Only released a few days ago pretty nice. And Kaaraa: run your antivirus program, and your spyware program. If it isn't your connection, then you likely have a virus or something similar. If it's a bug, then everybody would have the same problem. Or nobody notices 'cause people have abandoned IE.
Runnin Opera 10. Ditched FF cause it was using balls-loads of RAM. Only looked back twice. Once during that withdrawal period (No AdBlock....The whole 'block content' thing just isn't as good) and once because a website didn't support it (expertzone.microsoft.com....Damn you M$). But yeah. If you're not keen on FF cause you don't have much RAM or whatever, Opera 10 is a great choice. PS: Opera Turbo. Oh god yes. Kills pic quality, but holy crap it makes things faster.
That's one of the reasons I love it. And if you intend to view image heavy pages such as social networking sites, it's amazing how much faster it works. And it synchronizes all your bookmarks on all computers and mobile phones. Opera Link is awesome. Also: 1GB free webspace at my.opera.com!
